Then no wonder we lose every week! Lee's got a job for life, no worries, no pressure...

Our worse run since 1959 and the fact that we are in the Alehouse League. Shocking!

He hasn't got a job for life. And despite what Mr Cryne has said, if the board think it's right to sack him, they will. At the moment they don't, and although many disagree, particularly the vocal ones, not all of us do. Reading this forum it might seem that the fans are unanimous in the belief Johnson should go, but that really isn't the case. We just can't be arsed answering the same points over and over and over and over again.

There's a lot going on here. Firstly, we've sacked too many managers in the past, I think the board have acknowledged that, so they're extremely reticent to go down that route again. They're trying to show patience.

Secondly, whether Lee Johnson is fully in charge of recruitment or not, the policy of signing young players with a re-sale value was not his, it was the board's. Johnson may have signed up to the policy, but he did not devise it. As such, the board recognise that they are just as responsible for the current predicament and simply sacking the manager for adhering to a plan they created perhaps isn't the way forward.

Thirdly, they believe in him. That's not to say their patience isn't being tested or that they don't see some of the mistakes Johnson has made, but in the long term they think he can get it right. Many people disagree, but it doesn't mean they're right. People make predictions all the time, in football they get it wrong more often than not, but some still believe with the utmost conviction that they're right this time. I could be polite about why that is, but the reality is they're ******* idiots who never learn. It's not a phrase you'll read in a psychology book, but it's what it boils down to.

If we weren't going to sack Johnson after losing six in a row then we sure as **** shouldn't sack him after losing away at Coventry. Had we, then I really would have lost any faith I have remaining in our board. We have a game against a non-league side on Saturday and a League 2 side on Tuesday. If the losing run continues, Lee Johnson will no longer be the manager of Barnsley FC. Personally, I hope for two victories.

Can't believe it's come to the point where I'm now defending people I don't even ******* like.

Well I can't believe I am saying this but I beginning to think that i hope we lose at Altrincham on Saturday. It would be the first time I have ever wanted Barnsley to lose but the cup doesn't matter in the grand scheme and if that comes to pass then it may force the boards hand on LJ and right now, I think that would be in the clubs best long term interest. If it takes an early cup exit to make it happen then it would be a price worth paying in my eyes. Utter sacrilidge i know, but there you go.

we can all hope and pray things get better but I just don't see it happening with this bloke in charge. Doesn't mean I am right, but I can't change it. I understand that such a view will not be a popular one but winning a couple of cup games, one against a non league side and one that doesnt matter one bit, would likely be just papering over the cracks and losing us valuable time. What if the next 3 games in the league are all further defeats, would the good cup results mean that things are ok? No.

So when the season ticket sales are down to 5 thousand let's see how happy Cryne and Ben are then, competitive budget will be long gone and club will be on its Arse with Johnson still at the helm.

    Same here.

I don't like the style of football. His insistence of not playing square pegs in round holes (which he is constantly doing).

Couple of older heads may be the difference. I'd rather money be spent on testing that theory than sacking yet another manager. As much as I don't like what I'm watching.

If that fails and we end up in league 2. Fair enough.

All I can see is another manager coming in and wanting to replace the lot. Again.

And back to square one we go.

Just imagine if he did a flicker. Back to basics. Playing people to position and strength. We aren't asking for much. Just the simple game we know and stop ****ing about with the coaching badges ****.

He should be out on the basis of the first half alone, an unprecedented low in my thirty odd years.

Because you know, for a fact, that if we change manager we'll get better. You absolutely know that to be true. You must do, because you demand the head of our managers every six months. Except we're getting worse aren't we? Year on year we're getting worse and worse. Some people are learning from that. Some aren't.

Edit: if I've mistaken you for someone else and you're not a serial 'the manager out' protagonist, then apologies. I'm getting old and senile and half the names sound the same to me.

Yes you have me mistaken for someone else, agree we need stability but this coach is out of his depth. Doesn't know his best 11 or his best formation and the players looked lost last night and needed leadership from on the pitch or from the touchline, neither was forthcoming.

    Again, apologies for doing that.

I'm not going to try to claim that there aren't problems or that we're playing well and we're just unlucky. It's not true. There are lots of problems, we're playing badly and we deserve every defeat that is handed out. However, don't you think the major problem is that the team is full of inexperience and that this policy was handed down by the board? I can't see how any other manager would improve the results with the players we've got. People keep saying we've got a good squad, but it's just not true. It doesn't matter how bad your manager is, you don't lose 7 games on the spin at this level with good players. Maybe a top, top manager could have turned one or two of the defeats in to draws, but that's not much use. We desperately need some experience in the side. Let's see how this manager gets on with that.

Although all that may be academic because I don't think Johnson will survive a defeat at Altrincham and I wouldn't fancy our chances there even if we were doing well.

I don't think a win on Saturday will make much difference to his short-term future. If we win on Saturday/Tuesday, but lose the next couple of league games I think he'll have given the board no choice. The vast majority of managers wouldn't have survived 7 league losses in a row, never mind 8 or 9 or worse, and despite Cryne's potentially famous last words I don't think he'll allow this run of losses to get into double figures.

Carry on Mr Jay making your excuses and one day you may learn.

    You can't educate pork.

why have sacked numerous managers in the past?

Because the hirer's at Oakwell keep picking Prize Turkeys for Managers.

We have another one, Lee Jay is his name and he is worse than some of the one's long departed!

So the logic is sacking managers isn't working so we will stick with this one. It will all be Fine and Dandy eventually, NOT!!!

I hope you enjoy going to the Morgue that is Oakwell!

But as some people say "That is your right" Most certainly is and Good Luck with It.

Do you know why the board won't sack Johnson? Because last time, when they sacked Wilson, they though that's what the majority of fans wanted. The reason they believed this is that empty vessels were making a lot of noise. You, and a few others, were banging on and on and on and on that Wilson should be sacked. Anyone looking at this forum would have believed that's what the majority of Barnsley fans wanted. The people at Oakwell view this forum. Nervous that they were losing the support of the crowd they gave Wilson the boot.

But they'd got it wrong. The majority didn't want Wilson out, it was a minority who wouldn't shut up, and the board faced a huge backlash. They had a very uncomfortable few weeks after that decision, and lost a lot of trust that hasn't been won back, and it brought about a change of mindset. Firstly, they vowed not to ditch a manager so quickly next time, and made some pretty rash statements about future sackings that are difficult to go back on without losing face. Secondly, they realised you can't gauge the mood of the majority of Barnsley fans from reading forums like this.

So, it doesn't matter how much you bang on about wanting the manager out, they're not listening to you any more. They're not listening to me either, but it's your past actions that are having the influence, in the polar opposite direction to what you intend.

They may well have made the wrong choice this time. Far more reasonable and patient supporters than you are questioning Johnson's ability, but they no longer trust what they read on here, and places like it, to be representative. Because they've been burnt in the past, they're sticking with the appointment and that's entirely down to folk like you who made all the noise in the past and continue to make it now.

If Johnson turns out to be absolutely useless, the reason he will have kept his job for so long won't be because some of us argued he should be kept on, it will be because people like you have demanded the sacking of every manager we have ever had and the board no longer know if Johnson really is unpopular or if it's just the same **** from the same people. And because they acted rashly before, listening to the likes of you, they're overcompensating now.

The folk in charge make decisions based on what they read on this forum?

    Gosh we really are ******!

I seem to remember a poll on here backing Wilson and they still got shut Thank God.

They don't need to go on forums to decide what to do. Results, entertainment factors, Dwindling Attendances should dictate that.

Or even a losing run of 7 games on the spin which has never happened in my time supporting them.

As for the same **** from the same people look in the mirror.

You may be suprised with what you see!!!!

As sad as it may be you have a point!

    A 3 0 defeat should tip the scales .

    If that don't nothing will!
