I'd love him to come in and save our season... But then I'd love anyone to save our season! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reminds me of the old joke; "What do you call a Scouser in a suit? The defendant". In the same vein; "A Scouser and a Cockney are in a car. Who's driving? The police".
sigh. i hope i'm proved wrong like. and people will say 'nowt to lose'. but what's this actually telling us, really? some guy who's been on a surreal twitter campaign to rejoin us, and a massively troubled ex-red, clinging on to past glories. it just screams out 'we'll try anything'. i just can't see how either of those are anything to do with LJ, or his scouting network, or POMO, or any kind of strategy to build a squad. quite frankly, it sounds fcukin orrible to me. people will say 'nowt to lose'. i say there's everything to lose. another two gambles which don't pay off. people won't say 'well we had nowt to lose'. they will all universally say 'wtf were you thinking'? sack everybody.. seriously. what the **** are we doing..!?!
Give the lad a go, he obviously played his best football here. Hopefully that will have a positive effect. He's only 27 so it's not like he's past his best. I bet he didn't think he'd turn up and see Colace though!
I see your point, but it's only a trial. We're not forced to play them like some loans we might be offered. Sometimes players just fit in, football wise, with those around them. Maybe either of them will come off, maybe not. Either way a week or so trial is no trouble, especially with injuries to others.
Agreed. I've a soft spot for both of them, so I'm biased. Credit to Colace though, paid his own way here to have a trial, a couple of kids back home....
Hope it works out and he knuckles down and gets back to his best. On his day just what we need would bring a bit of exitement to oakwell someone who can run at defenders, pick a pass out and knows where net is. We will see though.
This sits ok with me. We're diar at the moment. We all know what he can do. Still only 27 with loads of CC and also PL experience. If he scrubs up ok on trial and won't cost a penny, give him a suitable contract. No brainer for me. As for the off field antics....... he might see this as last chance saloon and we may see the 'old' version. It's not a good 'off field' CV, granted, but he's no Ched, Ranger or King! Some of our fave heroes loved a shandy, I genuinely hope he's up to the mark. Could possibly save our season, God knows someone's got to!
My sentiments exactly. Really hope he trials well and we see him in a BFC shirt again soon. Christ how we need someone of his ilk....
Is that short for diarrhoea? If so I couldn't agree more. That aside, I had a dream at the start of the season of us playing an attacking 4-4-2, with (canny free signing) Hammill playing down the left and (ambitious permanent signing) John O'Sullivan down the right, and I thought that would see us tear up League One defences. Unfortunately I also foresaw us having an experienced spine of dependable warhorses (Liam Lawrence anyone) running through the side, which would have offered the perfect balance and leadership for the youngsters in the first team, and we all know that hasn't happened....... Think I'm ok with Hammill being given what is probably a last chance. I know everything that's gone before would suggest it's unlikely, however if he can knuckle down and rediscover anything like his old form, he could have a real impact.
