    so it is not only leejay and co that are deluded....even the very best (well second best at best!) suffer from delusion.

    note to Ronaldo...tha couldn't lace Messi's boots kid.

    Different types of player. Can't argue with either players records. As many goals as games is the sign of true greats. You'd be splitting hairs arguing which is best.

    He's got a point - Messi's injured!

    The thing is, its not up to Ronaldo to decide, its for others. I doubt you would ever hear or read about Messi declaring he's the best.

    Ordinarily, I'm not a great lover of arrogance. However, when you've scored 20 more goals than you've played games for one of the best clubs in the world, over a five year period and won everything there is to win in the process...there is some leeway.

    I don't think he can be accused of being deluded when by any objective measure, at the very least he's the second best footballer in the world (better than Messi for me btw)

    He might be an irritating, arrogant **** but if I was as flawless a footballer as he is, I probably would be as well.

    It's things like this that, for me, prevent him from being the best footballer in the world. To him it's all about Cristiano Ronaldo winning. If this means the team also wins then that's a happy coincidence but it's not his main concern. I get the impression he'd rather score a hat-trick in a 4-3 loss than not score and the team win 1-0.

    Messi is the opposite.

    I would say Messi has more natural ability but Ronaldo is a more complete player.

    And also in the interview Ronaldi said he was the best in his opinion, it was the journalist who pushed the Messi comparison on to him.

    Wouldn't put him anywhere near a great player, because for me there should be a massive 'points deduction' for the way he goes down like he's been punched/ shot if anything so much as grazes him or a breeze catches him.
    True greats shouldn't have to do that

    I totally agree with the item in bold. I personally think Ronaldo is the better player, but your argument above is true IMO. I can't really take to him as a person. Has more to his game than Messi though, I reckon.

    I can't agree. Course he wants his team to win, his ego surely needs to be winning trophies/medals and play in the huge games. He wants to win, he's a winner.
