Can't help but feel that the team would feel better with these two on the field. Johnson wouldn't play them unless fit. We couldn't expect them to run around as much as in their previous spells (although hammill's still only 27). But they do have experience, and you'd hope that would rub off. Presumably Whitey will have more of a line on where Hammill's at? But they'd offer a slightly different mix, and just maybe help kickstart something?
how old is Colace now ? if they are able to both be signed on a free....then why not give them a go on a month by month rolling contract... surely that cannot hurt?
I'd sign them both up today for a month...2 cup games then to show us what they can do etc... then take it from there.
desperate measures from a desperate man I feel. just guessing...... on a positive note, if you keep guessing you'll get one right eventually......might be int foth division before he does tho! hth
"we've got another couple of tricks up our sleeves as well" Wonder who else that used to play for us hasn't got a club?
If they're up to it during their trials, then I'd be happy to see them both given short term contracts.
He did a full pre season at Huddersfield, played in all but one of their friendlies (us, at Oakwell). Don't see him taking long to get up to speed, he has also spent a couple of weeks training with Bolton but didn't get offered a deal there (early October).
Are they both former players of the year... I know colace is, and hammill certainly was only perhaps missing out by being sold
They both would add something to our team but I would expect them both to run around as much as when they last played here. They are pro footballers after all.Hope things work out for all parties involved.
As Cunning Stunt mentioned last week, David Currie is currently working as a lorry driver. I'm sure he could be tempted back on a pay-as-you-play deal in between his long distance trips. Impact sub?
Smacks of desperation , the 'big' plan out the window , 100% proves who is signing the players , a Board totally lacking in any new ideas. Regurgitating the past .
It cannot be right that our strategy for survival involves ex-players now proffering their services. Tbh it is pathetic. It's like Escape To Victory. Adam the reformed alcoholic plays a blinder on the wing. Hugo the escapee tunnels back in to command the midfield. For heaven's sake - is this how far we've sunk? Let's at least be serious and concentrate on how we lick what we've got into shape.
