Before they can get a job in football.

Is there any such requirement on owners and directors/advisors ?

Cos otherwise you could end up with a situation where a football club ends up in terminal decline.

    Imagine that.

These days people wanting to buy a club have to apparently pass some kind of test to prove there "fit and proper". But cellino bought leeds which kinda says the test is some what flawed. In terms of coaching badges everyone on here can get there first badge with ease and get on the first rung. Takes around five, 2 hour sessions.

It reminds me of education where anyone can just buy an academy and then completely ignore the curriculum and employ unqualified teachers.

its ridiculous that coaching badges are needed in the first place,if blokes can manage a professional team based on their previous experience then thats all that should be needed

i wonder if Allan Clarke had coaching badges,,probably not is my guess, the thing he did have was experience of playing under at top manager and learning his craft that way.

Fergie didn't have coaching badges for years as a manager, he only got them when he was forced under the rules.

    Clough didn't have them either.

The modern world is **** in so many ways.

And that 1st rung is for coaching school kids and is aimed at doing no harm to their development, and wouldn't get you anywhere near a pro club.

Ferguson started his badges at St.Mirran and was always a regular at Scottish FA coaching camps in his formative managerial years. He was also involved in coach education and attended FA Courses as both student and tutor. Brian Clough did have a fall out on his first Coaching course with Charles Hughes but he did see the error of his ways and he went back and did them. The situation has nothing what so ever to do with coach education.

I'm sure Fergie refers to not having his badges in his book. Maybe it was the new ones that the PL insisted on managers having that he was lacking? Sure he mentions it though.

Ferguson taught on the Pro License course. He wouldn't have needed the Pro Licence himself because when Howard Wilkinson brought in the changes existing managers had Grandfather rights. People like myself who had the Preliminary Coaching Cert had to upgrade to meet the UEFA standards. I think it was about 2000 when I did my upgrade.

If there's a chance to insult you then you know I won't be far away. I have an inbuitlt 'Jamdrop opportunity' sensor which I use when my 'insultbiglilometer' isn't working.

I remember thinking I was safe only to be caught red handed. I think you must have a little army of elves living in your loft, all on tiny little computers combing the BBS for insults.

And now I have a rather amusing little image in my head of them all working away. I'm very easily amused
