He's started 3 games this season and we won 'em all. He's come on as sub three times and we won them too. Even if he was crap, it'd be worth playing him as a good luck charm. But he's not crap. He's a long way from the finished article but he's considerably further down that road than some of the young loan players we've brought in. And he's ours. And while we're at it, why doesn't Brad Abbot get a go? He might not be a world beater, but he's never let us down. He might not be as technically gifted as some of the loan players, but he's much more effective in a game of football because he runs his ballacks off and gets stuck in. It's not like we're playing so well that we just can't leave any of the regulars out. I know a couple more young players in the team isn't really what we need right now and they're not going to transform either our results or performances, but their work rate might mean we grind out a couple of draws instead of going down to 1-0 defeats. They'll probably make a few mistakes, but that's not stopping rest of the useless bleeders getting picked who make half a dozen every game. I dunt get it.
Wish I could find a link to the interview Johnson gave pre season where he said we'd give our own players a go first and wouldn't sign loanees who would just block their path to the 1st team.
Agree with this. Abbott should have kicked on this year with a loan spell in league 2 after performing well in the conference if we weren't going to play him. Bree's 'better than John Stones' & we win when he plays so can't understand why he's out of the side
