I don't hate him I want him to be good and will him on every game. But every game he shoes the same limitations. When we get a new manager or come January I think we'll see much less of Smith. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
He wasn't exactly a regular last season, this season his playing regular as our manager hasn't brought in a decent left back so we're stuck with him. I doubt he'll play 5 seasons or more at this level he just looks so poor. It probably doesn't help him with nyatanga along side him.
Agree he will drop out of the football league in a few years unfortunately. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
All of our back four and two keepers are struggling at the moment. I'd love us to bring in an experienced keeper and a brute of a centre half (could be buxton) then give Roberts a run along with Bree. Smith for me just can't cut it AT THE MOMENT. He's devoid of confidence and makes too many mistakes which in turn makes the entire back four jittery. Along with the fact he keeps playing the 'kennedy' ball just hoofed up the line. Not sure whether that's JL's tactics or poor left back play.
I think you've just hit the nail on the head when you've mentioned Kennedy and smith in the same sentence both poor left backs! I'd love smith to prove me wrong as any Barnsley player I want to be good.
I actually cannot believe you are singling Smith out, when there are so many worse performers on the pitch this season. Technically one of the the worst? How? He does what he's supposed to do. No frills. I can't stand one footed players ... they shouldn't be in the game. But again, I've seen him clear long balls accurately with his right, seen him tackle with his right. I actually watched him really closely in the first period of the first half, to count up how many times he passes back or sideways (as per your accusation before the game). He played three or four decent balls down the line / inside for the forwards. He played one ball inside that got intercepted. He won one header against a much taller player. He played two balls back to Nyatanga/ Davies (when there was nothing else on). He also whipped in a very good cross. So the worst thing he did was lose the ball once. Seems to me that you have a thing against him, which is sad, because a) He's nowhere near the worst in that side b) He's a kid c) Comments like this, when they are unjust, could ruin his confidence. I'm not saying he had a brilliant game; but lay off the lad, he's actually been one of our better players this season.
Smiths getting **** all in way of support time and time again. The winger be it hammill or is grove kept drifting inside leaving him isolated but he still put a good shift in and was fairly solid. The first goal two static players and a smith having to chase shadows trying to close down and prevent a cross. Second goal Pearson should have ankle tapped him before he got into our half. Feel sorry for him as he is taking unfair stick. Stick that needs to be placed on two centRe halfs and the midfielders
Smith is a good young promising defensive left back. However our inability to bring in an experienced left back to offer Smith support will harm his development, he's been thrown in at the deep end amongst a group of individuals playing in a clueless system adapted by a clueless manager. The lad has potential but seems to be lacking confidence at present, which is hardly surprising. Ideally we'd drop him out for a while or send him on loan to the conference to get some experience but we have so few options at left back that he's got to play.
I have nothing against any BFC player I just have an opinion on them as footballers. My opinion of Smith is that he isn't good enough. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
