Well I could be wrong of course but the conversations we had on Friday with Patrick and Ben didn't suggest anything like this was happening and we did discuss Patrick's future intentions etc. (just trying to put together a summary - it was quite a long meeting)
Personally don't see how anyone would be interested in buying Barnsley FC. Sub 10K crowds, catchment area competing with several clubs in the area, have to work with our council who waste money on concept halo rings, digital region super fast broadband, etc PC has always seen the club as a burden and as the owner he's always in a no win situation.
There is almost always a confidentiality agreement in place during a due diligence exercise. If talks on a takeover were happening it wouldn't be a surprise to me if only Pc, Ben and the finance director was in the know... Johnson certainly wouldn't and a supporters trust no chance
He's also said he'd give it to the fans. He's also said he wanted to bring his son on to the board and pass the club to him. Is James on the board now? Lee Johnson intimated at that in his interview a week or so ago.
Each time I've heard PC speak, he's said James wants nothing to do with it. I'd be surprised if that changes now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p037f793 1 minute 50 in. Johnson doesn't specifically state that James is now a director at BFC, but he lists him alongside the four directors we know about and tells us he's offering support. Even if he's not a director, which Johnson hints that he is, he's clearly having something to do with it.
Did they say how long they are prepared to let the club meander on before positive decisive action is taken to try and halt this horror run of results? Why the lack of communication from Oakwell to address supporters concerns? Will the silence continue when it's time to renew season tickets?
Interesting. Last time PC was put on the spike about the manager (then Wilson) suggesting James was involved, he called it a monstrous lie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, he's not a director at Companies House. James Patrick Cryne was elected as a director on 15 Feb 2015 and resigned on the same day. I don't think there's anything to read into that. That could of course be Patrick Cryne rather than James Cryne.
https://soundcloud.com/weststandbogs/sets/cryne-mansford-qa It's worth listening again to what Mr Cryne referred to as a 'monstrous lie'. It wasn't whether or not James was involved, it was the accusation that James picked the team. Did you ever believe that James, or anyone else other than the manager (Wilson before, Johnson now) selected the team on a Saturday afternoon? I certainly didn't. I don't know anyone that did. It's possible that one or two crazies got in to the No 7 that evening who believed he did, but the vast majority in there didn't. It's possible that one or two loonies listening to the recording believed that Mr Cryne's son picked the team, but the vast majority didn't. Mr Cryne's opening monologue begins at 2'05. It goes on for over 6 minutes. Time was tight that evening, as it always is in these meetings, the invited guests are busy people. 6 minutes was used to address a point that concerned no one in the room and no Barnsley fan with any sense and that was the club's opening gambit.
Agree with all that. I was there as well. Cba listening it again. Uncle Earnest and dead fish eyes.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't want to get confused here, not having a go, just asking, but you don't think there's anything to read in the manager thanking James alongside the other 4 directors of the club? Is that what you're saying? Don't get me wrong, I don't see any problem at all if James Cryne is part of the club, whatever role that may be. That's not an issue as far as I'm concerned. But, from Lee Johnson's point of view at least, he clearly is, that's the point I'm making.
