If we lose tomorrow and on Tuesday

Lee should speak with the Board and negotiate a settlement for his resignation. He will have broken a record set when our then manager was lying dying in Kendray Hospital (see today's Chron). A limited payoff would recognise that he has in some respects been presented with an impossible task, but ultimately one to which he has not been equal. It would also salvage something of his reputation.

I don't get why managers have a right to a settlement... If any of us were sacked by our employers how many would get paid off.

I agree Mr O. To carry on regardless would show his contempt towards the club and fans .

Sadly a win or draw tomorrow will no doubt allow him more time to carry on ruining our club.

A supporter should ALWAYS want his team to win, after all its what everyone aspires to.

But rightly or wrongly I am at the point where I hope our team lose, even get a good drubbing , to force the hierarchy to act to remove this manager from post.

I will be lambasted for this view but we really are at rock bottom and many of the fans have had enough to the point where there happy to walk away.

I want our club to flourish and make small steps to recovery but for this to happen the players need a different manager to try and unite them and ultimately extract the best out of the ability they possess.

    You Reds!

If I was sacked via redundancy I'd expect a kind of settlement. If I was sacked for poor performance I would expect - and deserve - sweet FA.

I'm afraid a win or draw will only paper over the cracks, maybe you are right a couple of defeats would force the boards hand.

There has to be a tipping point where enough is enough

If I was sacked for a disciplinary matter I'd not get a settlement. If I was deemed to be underperforming I's be given notice and see out my notice period. It all depends what's in the contract as to if a manager should be paid off. I'd imagine it's a negotiating chip; if the manager wants to leave then the club gets realistic (perhaps already agreed) compensation, the flip side to that is that if the club want rid of the manager then they have to pay the (presumably) already agreed sum. You can't have it both ways, either the manager (sorry head coach) is free to leave whenever he wants and you're free to dump him whenever you want or you both have a settlement mapped out for the converse.

Ultimately people in football are still people, they have some basic employment rights and I'm not going to begrudge them that.

Apparently there is no tipping point, if there had been we would have already reached it long ago. Forget calling for his resignation because that's not going to happen and they have already shown they won't sack him. So get prepared to be playing Hartlepool next season

I think I'm envisioning a situation where Lee does the honourable thing, DT. To muddle on when you've already become the worst manager (statistically) in a club's history really does nothing for your future prospects. I do think Lee should be compensated to some degree because we went after him, and he uprooted his family to come here. Hopefully though he would not seek the full value of his remaining term. This scenario would also satisfy PC's honour because technically he wouldn't have sacked Lee.

As for Hartlepool next season - I think you're right as it stands. But they'll be playing them without me watching - and, I suspect a fair few others.

In any event other than punching a customer, feeling up the secretaries or nicking the petty cash I would expect my notice period to be paid off.

If I ran the football club everyone would be on normal employment contracts. 3 months notice for the senior players 1 months for junior and 1 week for probies.

It might not work but I'd bet it would be at least as succesful as the current strategy. Whilst we would not have got Jon Stones money how much would we have saved with manager pay offs and agents fees and Richard Kell.

Maybe WSB or someone with time on their hands could come up with a trophy to be presented to him if he achieves this damn awful feat.

Could be in the shape of a letter L or the shape of an hand doing a L shape Although that would be much better made of foam. A bob or two could be made there.

It's rather going to take a big defeat losing 4 or 5 nil. Or maybe if we dont win the Blunts, and whoever else we play he ten will be sacked.

4 - 0 to Oldham and that should do the trick.

If not 4 - 0 to the Blunts would definitely work
