Pearson has been awful for months and has made 2 costly mistakes which have lead to goals recently. Will he be dropped? Will he chuff. Digby has 1 bad game where he makes a mistake and he is banished for weeks on end. Nyatanga had been poor for a while before he cost us the 2 goals against Walsall. LJs answer? Sub him on at HT in the next game. Roberts does absolutely nothing wrong but that doesn't save him from being dropped for at least 3-5 matches at a time. Wilkinson has an appauling attitude and he has been well underperforming since August. He'll still be getting picked in the upcoming fixtures. White and Jackson are promising hard workers. There is nothing they can do to get into this failing team. Smith has been consistently solid this season but just like Bree it hasn't saved him from being replaced by a former Oldham player who is only here until January.
Pearson hasn't been awful for months. He's made 2 mistakes as you say. Roberts has been poor in his last 5 or so games. I'm not sure whether bringing him in for Nyatanga would make much difference though. George Smith had the worst performance I've ever seen from a Barnsley player against Port Vale. He's generally been okay though. White has been brought in as competition, so I'd see how that pans out before having a go at his signing. We're stuck with the players we've got until January I'm afraid and we've to make do. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Roberts hasn't done nothing wrong? He's been one of our worst players since that stormer he had against Everton in the League Cup. If a team plays the ball on the floor, he's ****ed. Agree with the rest!
I like Robbo and want him to do well but since Everton other than Bradford in the JPT hes been poor and cost us a few goals. The other CB's haven't been any better though. Smith has been consistently poor IMO. Especially in the last 3 games.
It's all about opinions of course, but for me Roberts looks every bit the non league player we signed. He's a big lad, solid in the air, but hopeless when the opposition have the ball at their feet. Not that Nyatanga and Mawson have been much better, but I can't see how Roberts would have changed anything that's been going on. In fact, I think we'd have conceded even more goals. I think the way Digby has been treated by a number of managers has been poor. However, it wasn't the mistake against Fleetwood that was the major problem, his performance throughout the game was nowhere near good enough. It was miles off. I'm not a big fan of Pearson. If I was playing 4-4-2 it would be Hourihane and Scowen every time for me. Unfortunately, Scowen is injured and despite my reservations about Pearson's game, he looks light years ahead of Digby. Conor Wilkinson hasn't started a game since 29 August. He's only started 2 and he scored in one of them. He's only come on as a sub 6 times. That's not a manager's favourite. White may be promising, Jackson maybe experienced, but we haven't got to ask if they're better than Wilkinson, who doesn't play, but if they're better than Winnall and Watkins and now Toney. Smith is one of the few that can hold his head high this season. Last couple of games he's looked off it. He's young and he probably needs a rest. Bringing someone in at this stage is a good move to stop us ruining the lad. There's all sorts of things wrong with the club and the squad and the manager. But playing one average player prone to mistakes ahead of another average player prone to mistakes isn't going to make any difference. To be honest, I think it's us who have a warped judgement about some of the players and personal favourites rather than Lee Johnson. That doesn't make Johnson any good as a manager, but it certainly doesn't mean there's a remedy in this piss weak squad.
Digby has had more than enough chances and has been shlte everyone. Let's face it, Mr Lee Johnson is a terrible manager. Thereev is consistent in this opinion unlike some who are brown nosing one minute and slagging him the next. Shambles at the moment, total shambles Hth
Agree with this. To be honest I wouldn't have made many, if any, changes to the starting line up over the last few weeks.
I think Pearson is being restricted by LJ and he has a much better natural game. i.e the attacking drives forward he makes once a game if we are lucky. Alfie Mawson to be comended for the community work he does off the pitch but it is plain to see that he struggles as captain. Nowhere near vocal enough and maybe his game would improve if the responsibility of being captain was taken off him for a while.
Oh and the starting line up has been changed far too often probably along with formation too. Players need some consistency and LJ should have the courage of his convictions which seems very lacking at the moment.
Smith solid as they come defensively Going forward completely different story But again that's he reason they are playing in league 1 Only Scowen and Conor good enough to play in an higher league in my opinion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
But when it's not working you can't continue to play the same team/formation. We need some new faces in January to freshen it up as we're well and truly stuck in a rut.
Hes inexperienced, has made a jump up from semi pro none league and has been asked to play right back, right centre back, left centre back, as part of a back 4, a flat back 3, alongside mawson, alongside nyatanga, with wabara next to him, with bree there, with scowen there and i think even with pearson there and in front of davies one week and townsend the next. Theres no wonder hes all over the place at the moment, im only surprised he knows which way we're kicking.
I've never played to the same level as Roberts, obviously, but I played a hell of a lot when I was young. I was a defender. Didn't make a single bit of difference to me where I played in defence, what formation we played or who was at the side of me. I had good games and bad games of course, but it was nowt to do with the position I was playing in or the formation we used. Defending is a piece of piss. You kick or head the ball away and if you can't do that you kick the opposition up in the air. That's the same whether you're at full back, centre half, right side, left side, in a back 4, a back 3 or a back 5. Put me in midfield or at wing back or up front and I was a bit lost, but put me in defence and I could defend (appropriate to the level I played). Roberts isn't playing well. It's not his position or the formation, he just isn't playing well. Neither are Mawson and Nyatanga like, but at least they look comfortable on the ball, which Roberts doesn't.
