Dog is now dossing somewhere - my arthritis is now playing up in both my back and my knee - just had a (strong) painkiller and also just necked a can of Ruddles County (special thanks to the current mrs wilkojohnson for fetching it from shopping yesterday.....so what I hear you all say.... So what - the dilemma is - I'm on my own 'til abart 10 tonight - do I go for another Ruddles and risk not starting my next OU assignment (deadline is next Thursday) - risk opening a bottle of red (purely for medicinal purposes you know) and guaranteeing I don't start my assignment..... Anyone who dares to suggest that I start my assignment will get reported to Site Admin for bullying.......of course this is meant in jest!
just a suggestion but if you take another painkiller then open the bottle of red you can mentally plan out your assignment so it will be a piece of pi55 when youre running around like david perkins ( headless chicken, I would have said brendon O'Connell but I don't know your age) next weds night trying to complete it, mtfbwy
Depends on the module! I had some mild success doing a lot of MST209 assignments after having a couple. I had rather less success attempting MST326 or MS324...
Thing to do here is to pour a soothing glass of red while carefully timetabling the slots where you will do work on your assignment. That will create the impression of doing something constructive whilst satisfying current needs.
As a fellow 'mature' student, I'd suggest the red wine option. As said elsewhere on the thread, you can always set out a timetable to complete the assignment with a bit to spare. After the timetable has been written up, open another bottle of wine.
The earliest I ever started an assignment was midnight of the day it was due in. I can only work under pressure.
I'm the complete opposite, JamDrop. For example, I have two assignments due in, the first by 18th December, the second by 15th January. As they're connected (the first is about the realities & myths of decay and preservation of human remains in archaeology, with the second to do with preservation of bodies through mummification, freezing and within peat bogs), I've decided to do them as if they're one huge report, but obviously submitting them separately. Hopefully, I'll complete the work by the end of next week giving me the build up to Christmas, Christmas itself and into the New Year free from studying and work.
I can only deduce that your response was a kind offer to undertake my assignment M249 - Practical Modern Statistics
The Ruddles County won (initially anyway) and took twice as long to sup as the first, which is always the case. However time has come now to open the Shiraz. Oh and before I forget the assignment/books are still looking at me, just as I am with them. I'll start the assignment tomorrow, definitely - cos I'm not doing the black wotsitthingy day no way Hose
I could never, ever do an assignment that early! I would do loads of reading and note taking before starting but I wouldn't actually start the writing of it until it was last minute. How do you know that you're not going to find out something new after you've done it? I used to give myself maximum possible research time. I would start researching as soon as we got it and I would keep going until I literally had no more time left. I then quickly put all the information I had gathered into an essay and submitted it that (deadline) day.
You're absolutely right. I couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't miss something by completing the work early. Alternatively, neither does it mean I will omit something. However, I couldn't guarantee the quality of my work wouldn't be compromised by rushing to complete it nearer the deadline, either. There's no short cuts taken with the studying and research. Although I have to admit it helps being retired, the kids being grown up & left home, presenting me with a great deal of peace, quiet and time to do my work. I'm very fortunate when compared to some of my fellow students. Others on my course work to a similar method as you have and are quite relaxed & happy with it, but as I said earlier my way works best for me.
