First and foremost best wishes to Danny and his loved ones and hope you have a full and speedy recovery ( I'm not aware of what his illness is)
This is not a pro Lee Johnson post either.
I was and still am of the opinion he should not have got the job. However, he was our manager and he had my support. During His last spell here we produced mainly boring slow build-up football, tippy tappy etc. There was much criticism in the ground and on here in particular. His interviews were never great but became more boring and dull each week. Mind boggling team selections, tactics and substitutions compounded any hopes and beliefs that he could get us promoted.
Would any of you who keep harping on about him, would have continued to do so, had we been looking like possible promotion candidates this seaso?
Just because DW maybe wasn't afforded the same leeway/patience (call it what you will) as what LJ seems to have, does not make Danny's last tenure any better.

So are you asking if people would keep referring to the previous manager if the current one was doing well?

He isn't ill apparently and I for one am glad to here it.

I wanted rid at the time but judging present day events he was well and truly shafted!

Not ill, oh I got the impression he was after reading the op of a previous post.
Shafted or not, I still don't see why his last tenure is not seen as anything but poor and disapointing? He brought some decent players in, but most of our past managers did the same.

We don't know how far we'd have sunk had he been given longer, it's hypothetical. The bottom line is his last tenure was poor and disappointing and many fans were disgruntled at best. Our current predicament does not change that.

We are worse off after Wilson has gone maybe that's more to do with Johnson been clueless rather than Wilson been great.

Danny's return was my last great dream in football and its premature end left a bad taste in my mouth that will never go away. The timing and nature of his sacking was unforgivable in my eyes. Irrational though it may be to many I think I'll always be prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and I truly believe we should have stuck with him through thick and thin. I can't comment on LJ's tenure because I've not seen any of it, nor do I intend to, but if the results and views on here are anything to go by then we've (sorry, old habits die hard - they've) not moved forward very far. But I can honestly say it wouldn't make any difference to me if they had. Regardless of that, IMHO the time came for the club to pin their colours to the mast and they missed it.

He brought some good players in and some ***** reece brown, Keith treacy, Lita, hemmings, turnbull that is just off top of me head. I think people had such big expectations last season having just come down from championship Wilson had a good budget to play with and we had a experienced manager. People thought we would walk through teams like Crawley Fleetwood chesterfield ect sadly you have no right to win a game of football no matter what division it is.

    I disagree with this.

Up to December time when we were hit by a load of injuries (Winnall, Williams, Bree, Cranie & Ramage), the football had been on the whole entertaining.

It was only after that when he tried to tighten things up when we lost our best attacking players that the football became dull

Danny's tenure was better, much better, and the stats back this up. We were never bottom of the league under Danny, we never went on long runs without a win under Danny (we've been on two in Johnsons time with us) and we were never in realistic danger of being relegated, in fact when Danny was sacked we were six points from the play offs.

He was hampered by injuries and losing players but we would have come through it and in my opinion we'd be top six at least this season if he was still here.

Chesterfield away was the turning point performance wise last season. But we were still picking up points, at home especially.

For those confused by the illness/hospital thing it was a reference to a line in the latest WSB that DW had been rushed to hospital after laughing his **** off at the current situation. There's no genuine ill health issue, but the thread yesterday suggested otherwise.

We should never have appointed Danny Wilson when we did, we should have stuck with Mellon until the end of the season, that way if we did go down, which it was most likely that we would, then we should have appointed Danny after that, so he came in with a clean slate.
Unfortunately Danny was a part of that relegation and a part of the losing mentality therefore it was always going to be difficult for him the following season.

I'd have Turnbull now. He suffered with his back all last season

I'm puzzled when anyone tries to argue that we are better off now. It's just beyond the comprehension of my little brain.
