..... And there's a certain irony even in posting it on a fans website, where the idea may be to obsess about every last thing, but......

…...I labour to feel the need, in order to appreciate what I see on the pitch, to wade through largely speculative blather about how the club is run, what the recruitment policy is, how much the academy costs, what the manager owner and chief executive's individual roles are and who did what or how a head coach is or isn't a manager etc.

We are losing the discussion of the 90 minutes that count, from the skills of the players, from the mechanics of the team, from the game itself, from being able to exchange an opinion on what has really gone on. On the turf.

Instead we get posted in relatively brief terms how mediocre or otherwise we were, followed by blame/fault driven demands for dismissals or other equally crude “remedies”. Because we are now seemingly encouraged to immerse ourselves in something more than the mere spectacle of the game.

Instead a “we are *****” will do whilst we now obsess about things we have little idea about or understanding of, and are encouraged to criticise and berate the operation of things that we would have no comprehension about how to address if we were placed in charge.

The latest idea is that LJ has not really been able to get the players he wants because of the bizarre recruitment philosophy of the club. Nobody really knows whether this is right or not, but no manager worth his salt can justify either first taking a job with constraints he could not handle, nor nestling his team at the foot of the division (a division lower than we are used to) after a record number of consecutive league game losses.

And who ought to consider it crucial whether the manager is likeable or not? It might attract a limited interest but on here there seems an obsession with this, and many more irrelevant things besides. Things on which an opinion may well be fine but where any real judgement or perspective is lacking.

There was a time when if things were obviously wrong on the pitch then we largely pondered upon how different players or a formation tinker might address it.

Red Rain still gets stuck into it, even though he thinks I don't “like” him. Though this post is as long as one of his.

Anyway now we get posts that are tedious repetitive demands for sackings, or news that season tickets will not be renewed, or advice that there are far better things to do on a Saturday afternoon.

After hustings perhaps next there'll be hangings at the Rec.

When (as James Carville did not say) it's the match, stupid.

Sanctification for one simple post seems excessive.

Short concise posts can be comprehensive as long ones. Why say in five hundred words what can be said in two.

    We're *****.

Don't know what all that was about, but to intimate that we have no comprehension of how to address the follies and shortcomings of the club is preposterous and demeaning to everyone on here especially considering the mess the present management team is making of it, a few of the people who post on here would love to be on the board and it would be a good thing, and btw many of us have managed bigger concerns than this before.
