Did you notice that the replacement didn't have any of that stuff on him that they use to mark 10 yards at a freekick? THe one that Hammill put about 10 feet over the bar.

Not wanting to excuse the penalty miss but I thought keepers were supposed to stay on their lines? He was at least a yard off it when the kick was taken.

If that's true then it might excuse it because it was a fingertip save so being off his line could have made all the difference.

Watched it again and he's well on his way to the right (permitted) and forwards (not permitted) at the point Conor strikes it. He effectively narrows the angle cos if you look at where he saves it, it's almost half way out to the six yard line.

Trying to outwit the keeper is a stupid way of taking a penalty. Neil Redfearn never missed penalties until he started messing about on his run up. A good blast into the top corner, and no keeper in the world will stop it.

It didn't look a particularly bad penalty to me, more like a fantastic save.

If every saved penalty was retaken because of the keeper being off his line, there would be very few - if any - saved pens at all.

This is correct the keeper moves forward and right before Connor kicks the ball should have been re taken

Which referee? Neil Swairbrick started the match and 4th official Carl Boyeson ended it? I don't think we would be talking about either ref if Isgrove hadn't done his Dave Regis miss and we hadn't hit the woodwork again.

He got in the way 3 other times as well - its rare for a ref to get in the way once in a game - I dont think I had ever seen even twice in a game before Saturday

Bizarrely he's reffing Man Citeh at the Ettihad tonight - perhaps we were just a warm-up outing for him.

Which is the way it should be. Penalties are given for a reason.
