He was brilliant tonight mate./ never thought he could do it and that ref wants fecking sacking, taking a point off, what a lovely person !
Think he deserved the point off. It wasn't an explosive fight but it was Fury beating Wlad, against all odds. Unbelievable in the grand scheme of things. I'm bloody shocked, but ecstatic. Never doubted him, but always rated Wlad, the king for 10 years. Tyson vs AJ at Wembley.... wow
It's a massive achievement, but at the end of the day he's still a bloke who equated homosexuality with paedophilia. As such I can't bring myself to celebrate him as a champion and I hope whoever he faces next gives him a proper braying.
What @mansfirld_red said. Fair play to him for going to Germany and doing some job. But he's still a bell in my eyes, and I look forward to seeing him on his arse one day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He's a great showman To put yours hands down your side and invite him to hit you takes some balls Massive respect from me Deserved the win Joshua would KO him No problem He hasn't a big enough punch to beat Joshua Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Joshua's not even fought for the British title or fought anyone in the world's top 50. How's he cope in the later rounds? How's he deal with a jab? How's he deal with a mover? Does he have a chin? How's he cope in a crisis (cut, knockdown etc)?
Amazing win. Not the best British win ever though. I'd say on a par wth Haye beating Valuev as well as Honneyghan's win over Curry. To be so dominant on the scorecards whilst having a point taken away shows how good he was. Saying that, it was an awful fight. But not because of Fury's doing, mainly because Wlad just looked like he didn't want to be in there. Finally showing his age. Fury vs. Wilder has to be next. That will be a proper fight and would actually be a bigger and better win for Fury if he could do it.
I'd say it's the best win by a Brit since Hatton - Tsyzu. Tsyzu was ranked 2nd on pound for pound lists. That was an amazing win. Fury's was fantastic but Wlad had shown signs he was slowing down in his last 2 fights but that shouldn't take away from the win because 99% still thought he'd got enough left to comfortably win
He'll take a voluntary defence first. Then fight Wlad again, if Wlad actually wants a second beating. I'm not sure he will once his head clears in a few days time. Who could he defend it against then next? I think it's too early at this stage for Haye. But down the line, a year or so on and once Haye's had a couple of warm up fights, who knows? It'd be a huge fight and the animosity is already there. I'd back Tyson any day of the week against him, but I do think it'd be an exciting fight. Joshua won't be stepped up so quickly, for his own sake. But those who now question whether he's fought anyone, or been hit etc, need to remember the same things were said of Fury. He was a bum, a joke, and Wlad was going to KO him because a cruiserweight once caught him flush. But if anyone who seriously watches boxing couldn't see the talent in Fury then I'm bewildered. It was obvious from day one. But I have to accept that off the back of three fights in three years or whatever daft and never against a true quality opponent, I never expected that last night. He just owned it. And Wlad looked like the novice. Sensational victory. Albeit not the most explosive of fights. I blame Wlad for that, as if he'd thrown some big rights or whatever it may have become a good old slugfest. Tyson Fury, heavyweight king. Who'd have thought it...?
I don't think it's right to call it a beating. It was a boxing match rather than a fight & barely any hooks were thrown. Fury won the fight on the jab & his movement. He showed plenty of raw talent but also showed a poor defence in pretty much every fight except the Johnson & Chisora rematch fights. I felt he might frustrate Wlad early but never did I think he'd do it for 12 rounds. I don't think Wlad did either with how he seemed to expect Fury to give him chances rather than forcing them. I think Wlad should've retired when his trainer died & then he got the blonde lass out of Heroes pregnant. It's now awkward because if he retires it looks like he's ducking a rematch when he's took on every challenge throughout his career. At least with Fury he fought some gatekeepers, Chisora, Cunningham & a better version of Johnson even if he didn't fight anyone in the top 10. Joshua hasn't fought anyone in the top 50 & that won't change with the Whyte fight. The last time he fought a big heavyweight who could move was Savon in the Olympics who boxed his head off & got robbed. That doesn't bode well for a Fury fight.
I could/should have used 'defeat', rather than beating. I hadn't thought of its other meaning when using it, but aye it makes it seem like I think he beat him down etc, which he didn't. He just bettered him in every department in what was a very tactical show by Tyson, he's a clever bloke. I do though think that had Wlad got some shots off, some big hits, Tyson would have reciprocated and KO'd him. I don't see AJ as ready yet, but give it a couple of years. Be nice if Tyson is still a champion then. I've just heard David Haye gobbing off again, saying he'd murder Fury which is why he's going to duck him. When in reality, Fury gave him two chances to fight him, no ducking whatsoever from Fury, and after three years out of the game why the chuff would he give Haye a fight now, considering he nearly ruined him? I'd like to see the fight happen because I feel it'd be exciting, like the Froch/Groves affair. But unless he becomes mandatory I see Tyson ignoring his overtures. And don't blame him. Can he defend the belts against anyone? Genuine question, I'm not sure how this works these days. If he can have one voluntary defence, does it have to be a certain level of fighter? Because that'd rule Haye out anyway after three years out.
Great bloke, a few of my friends went to the fight. They were absolutely shocked to see him on their 80 quid ferry crossing on the way home. Stood in bar in his suit and flip flops. spent time chatting and having photos taken with them. just found out his wife is pregnant so they didn't want to fly.
