'The Fascists of our time' are seen by many of your constituents as being this Govt and you've just voted with them.

Yep, this government need to screw the poor in order to pay off the deficit but they can afford to start utterly pointless air strikes in Syria. Priorities.

Wonder how much these Brimstone pin-point missiles cost that are supposed to be the main reason why the yanks want us on board? A lot of money to be just a token presence as apparently we've been described in the USA

Cameron will no doubt have a quiet word with IDS and get another few billion cut from the welfare budget...

Neither am I, but I strongly suspect my MP to have voted the same way, (Michael Dugher Barnsley East) I send him many e-mails, and my next one will no doubt carry my feelings.

Dugher is not my MP - it's John Healy (Wentworth & Dearne) - I'd publicly humiliate him if he voted for the motion

Dan Jarvis and Michael Dugher have represented the views of the majority of their constituents who elected them, it may have disappointed some soft lefties but that's democracy.

I'd be surprised if he had, but then again, I suppose I shouldn't be.

Who says they've represented the majority view, Has there been a survey published? BTW This opposition to bombing in Syria is not necessarily exclusive to 'lefties'

Obviously Dan and Mickey haven't realised that the Labour Party has elected a new leader only 7 weeks ago with an overwhelming mandate for his soft leftie views which included not taking pointless military action, I predict theres a few Blairites going to get some deselection boxes for Xmas

I predict Corbyn won't be leader of the Labour party for much longer.

The only way he will be replaced is if he resigns , theres a theory he has no intention of fighting the next election and will resign after 3+years by which time the Blairites will have been purged

I have long suspected that to be the case. I reckon that the leader to fight the next election will be someone who we've not particularly heard of from the centre-left of the party.

Just reading through these threads. A little bit like the football team, loads of posts saying we're ***** but only a few proposing any kind of remedy. So, what does everyone think we should do to tackle the lunatics that are ISIS.

In conjunction with the Arab League, we negotiate with President Assad and the rebel forces who genuinely want a better Syria, the objective being that they call a truce, put aside their differences and join together against the common enemy that is IS. The people of Syria take back their own country and have their own victory. We offer huge aid and investment when the victory is theirs on the understanding that free elections take place when the peace is won. We offer similar aid and investment to the Iraqi government to take the fight to IS from the east.

Rather than spending £billions on blowing the place to smithereens we spend it on rebuilding.

You shouldn't be afraid of IS. They're not nearly as big and powerful as the media will have you believe. But you should be very afraid of what comes after them. If there are 100 rebels and you round them all up and kill them, how many do you have the next day? Our foreign policy works on the misguided belief that there will be none. The reality is there will be 1000s. Those 100 had fathers, sons, brothers, cousins and friends who you have just made an enemy.

Bombing doesn't just kill your enemies. It kills innocents and destroys infrastructure leaving those left with nothing. It makes more enemies.

I've no doubt we will, eventually, beat IS with military action. What will be left? A country destroyed. Millions displaced. Warring factions still armed to the teeth. Hundreds of thousands of men who have lost wives, families, friends and relations. There's no money, no jobs and not even an enemy to fight any more. There's no victory worth celebrating because there's nothing left worth having. The West came in and levelled the place then went back to their nice homes and families. That's when you really should be afraid because we will have finally pissed off enough people to for them to have the numbers to really hurt us.
