Is it alright to be an untrue supporter, or even a "true" customer?

So on that logic, there's no such thing as a "true" supporter - just a supporter? (Or not).

I don't think the word 'true' is relevant tbh. IMO you're either a supporter or you're not. There are people who don't put a penny into the club, and offer no encouragement either. For me, they are not supporters. They're just whingeing tw&ts, hell bent on criticising every thing possible

I think there are true supporters and supporters and probably a grey area in between where either description is apt.

I class myself as a supporter because I've had a season ticket for about 25 years but pick which away matches I go to and will miss matches for weddings or holidays.
I'd class my mate as a true supporter because he goes to every away game rain or shine and will put off family events to watch Barnsley.
However, he shouts far more abuse regarding LJ than me so it's nothing to do with loyalty to a manager when he's struggling.

A true supporter is somebody who needs to post on the BBS to tell the rest of us how awful we are, apparently.

I used to follow the reds everywhere, even a home game was a 500+ mile round trip. I couldn't even bring myself to buying owt from the shop for Christmas this year, like I usually do. The fight and passion has turned in to apathy and I'm finding every excuse I can not to spend my money on the club any more.

If you have the club at heart then you are a true supporter, I'm not there today but will listen on player and keep looking in to the BBS throughout, I don't think that makes me not a true supporter because I'm not there, I'll hurt as much as anyone else if we lose. Every one has different circumstances whether that is health, work, financial, other responsibilities and can't go to every game and I would find it quite offensive if I was classed as not a proper fan when bfc has been a big part of my life go over 35 years.

I know lots of people who support Barnsley, but over the years got fed up and stopped going. I remember under Clarke we did that well that we were getting Leeds and Sheffield supporters coming to watch us. Then the biggest thing that stopped most of them coming was having to have a seat. No standing.
When stood if you did not like the company you moved. These lads are still interested in the Reds but just do not go to games.
My first game I was sat at the side of a 20 stone Sumo wrestler? And he needed half of my seat, and on the other side a guy who was about 6 stone wet through who was shivering all through the game. It was a chuffing nightmare. Whether these lads are true supporters or not, they used to be
