I just hope we've not out Hammill in the shop window for January sales, that would be a kick in the..,

Good, let's hope he signs and soon, cracking player at this level and seems to have given the others a boost too.

Perhaps it might be one of those contracts whereby the club has the option of signing him for longer?

As long as it's a sizeable get out, unlike the last one, that won't be so bad.

    Depends really,
    If/who else might be interested
Does he want to risk going to another club and have a settling down period.
More variables than those to consider of course, but perhaps we're in a stronger bargaining position than we may think.

He was asked on radio sheff last week if he saw his future with Barnsley and he said yes and that he would love an extension to his contract (or words to that effect)

I'm surprised it's taken this long. Hopefully a 2-3 year contract agreed soon

His contribution and continued presence cannot be underestimated. He's easily the best player in the division and in that other players will now go out with the belief that they can create chances and score because of him.

If we manage to tie him down to a contract of at least 18 months we'll have pulled off a masterstroke. He's clearly too good for this level.

Think we need to assess later in season were we may end up the following season. Could we afford him in league two for instance, would he want to be in that Division.

Relegation may see us offloading higher wage earners once more.

To be fair if we weren`t in the ***** then there would have been no need to bring out of contract players in to the club and I don't think we would have looked at him twice personally. Wrong DNA and all that.

Whilst I think the lad is a class player for this league, contract to end off season reviewing in March.

credit where its due for once, whether it was down to Johnson or not, the idea to bring Hammill back has been a very good one so far and id like to see him stay for the rest of the season at least. it is kind of showing up our so called golden team of youngsters though isnt it, relying on a former favourite whos career was almost over.

Johnson won't extreme it, he's making him look bad for his decisions about other loanees, lie he'll take the credit for making us a profit on a player he wasn't bothered about except to save his job
