Kids football

Volunteer ref at my sons under 9's today against Staincross, opposition parent shouted "cheating lovely person*t" at me during the game - the culmination of 40 minutes of abuse from start to finish, not nice. He was made to leave, but really? Who are these people?

that's the thing though, I'm a parent; does my 8 year old so need to hear me calling someone a lovely person and then trying to fight with other parents? What kind of example is that? What is wrong with people? I mean Jesus get some perspective and behave like a human being.

 

It's not a great example, you kind of feel sorry for the kid knowing they're being dragged up by an ape/moron like that.

 

Should have stopped the game and taken the players off. My son has played for Kexborough Chiefs since under 7's in Huddersfield league and we have never had that and is now under 12's. But the protocol is to take the players from the field so they are not subjected to it and do not return until the problem has been removed.

No place for it in junior football and the one thing that does get my back up while these young uns are trying to develop

It was right at the end of the game when he called me a c u next tuesday, and so we just ended the game and he wasn't allowed to come back for the 2nd development game, but it just soured the whole thing and the atmosphere.

 

Isn't there a refs report you submit to the league?

I think this is the last year they don't get a payed ref, from u10s onwards they pay someone, until then every team has either a coach or parent who do it for free, like me - qualified refs cost about £25 a game, so there's no official report, etc. Because its not meant to be that competitive.....

 

Nah, I gave a foul and then they carried on and scored, but I'd blown the whistle a good 5 seconds earlier, so as far as I am concerned, once you've blown your whistle its a free kick because you don't know who's reacted to it and who hasn't. But, at the end of the day, its kids, and I don't think even if I was some kind of small minded douch bag who would relish the prospect of cheating at a under 9s football game, would you think shouting "lovely person!" at someone was acceptable?

Aye, my two lads have been playing for last 2 n half years( under 8s and under 14s) and it has been a bit of eye opener with regards to some of the bell ends that are stood on the touch line.

My 9yr old kid is in his 5th year at Dodworth MW, good set of parents and in the five years i have been watching there has only been 1 incident, caused by a parent, who was banned from attending games for a indefinate period.

To imply that "kidz football is attended by a large proportion of morons......" shows how out of touch you really are.

I manage an u8 team in Goldthorpe and also ref when get chance.

Already this season I have had to submit 3 reports to league for spectators behaviour. Highest age group i have done is u11 too

 

I watch u11 every week and the refs get abuse every week, mainly mild but sometimes ridiculous. I have seen parents squaring up, managers hurling foul abuse at their young players and refs.

So yes, there are a lot of morons who spoil it for the majority.

I'm afraid it's very common in kids football.

My lad plays u11 and unfortunately the league placed his team in the wrong division which caused them to be on the receiving end of a few hammerings.

A few weeks ago a team came up from Sheffield who were miles better than them.
The opposing teams parents were horrible and barracked the Ref and my lads team. The Ref isn't the best and did make mistakes but the team were winning 10-1 and looking like they'd score more generally taking the piss! But the parents were still baying for more and generally having a go at the Ref and the players.
Parents thinking a group of 10 year old's are playing in the FA cup final.
