Apparently not happened for hundreds of years. There is a U shaped valley from the top that leads to Malham Tarn, I bet it was a wonderful, awe inspiring sight.
Took me back to A Level Jogger that did - quite a wonderful sight that waterfall......as well as Malham Tarn, Malham Cove, U-shaped valleys ox-bow lakes Now if only I'd studied harder at Jogger and not at the jogger teachers legs I, might, just have scraped 3 A Levels and not just scraped 2 Ahhhh well...... pleasant reminiscing on my part ..... ta very much Mr Badger
It was spectacular. I remember visiting Malham with school when I was about 10 or 11 and my teacher telling us that it hadn't flowed with water for over a 100 years and if it ever did again he'd hire a bus and go back with us. Poor bloke died years ago and never got to see it.
Takes me back to my A Level Geology field trip. I sat on the edge of the cove and then we traipsed over some of the three peaks, before stopping at the highest pub in England, the Tan Hill Inn. We weren't quite old enough, but the teachers and landlord turned a blind eye. It wouldn't happen today. Some parent would be suing. Thanks for sharing. I've bookmarked it. BTW. I believe that Malham Cove was the setting, or inspiration for The Water Babies.
