Was listening to Karl Robinson on Talksport last night. He was saying how he finds the strength of the opposition squads in the Championship scarey. I reckon it's moved on even since we fell through the trap door. Clinging on in there might be looking aspirational now - never mind the Prem.

Should be our absolute minimum expectation. We're Barnsley, not MK ******* Dons.

And this is why we'll never be successful. Yorkshire people happy to put up with any old ***** served up to them by the big mesters.

I agree. The Championship should be our norm. The premiership must always be what we aspire to. League 1 is what we want to avoid but need to endure,

The implication is that the ask is somewhat greater nowadays, but so what. Someone has got to get promoted from where you are, Money helps but it aint the whole truth - just ask Seff Utd supporters. Who the hell were Bournmouth for heavens sake! Look at them now.

It takes money you may say - but you dont know what is round the corner. One day some mega rich guy with ego issues may realise that Barnsley represents an extremely innexpensive way to project their image and buys us for a song.

We got promoted last time, not due to money, but due to a good team. We all know that having the best, and most expensive players, does not always give us the best team.

So we dream, and we aspire, but not for just the Championship. Not in this day and age as all the Bournemouth supporters will tell you.

Excellent post. I doubt we'll even get near the Premier League in my lifetime (and I'm too young to remember the only other time we were there!) but if someone with some money who actually sees our potential buys us then you never know. You mention Bournemouth, see also Swansea, Stoke, Burnley, Hull, Watford, Wigan, Brighton (it would seem) . . . it can happen.

For now though we've just got to plough on and get ourselves out of this division via the top rather than the bottom.

Very well said. Although I'd prefer to do it without the investment, which I still believe is possible.

    WOW !!!
    Agree big time

And that's why I have more faith in Lee Johnson than I have in Patrick Cryne..........no matter how much Patrick has put into the club.

We are very unlikely to go back into the Championship with Patrick in charge - but if we do then expect another 8 years of similar turmoil as what we had to endure last time around.

You've got to have some investment without any it would be extremely difficult to climb the ladder.
