I know someone with one, he says that he feeds his dog about 750 g a day dried food, got to be a very good quality food. Or about 1.5 kg of fresh meat plus mixer. They are prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, other bone and joint problems, they have eye problems, heart problems and epilepsy, he says make sure you have good pet insurance. They live about 8-10 years and they shed hair like its going out of fashion , oh and they slobber an unbelievable amount
Some of what madmark's friend said is spot on. They do get dodgy stomachs if their food is changed slightly. Ours is 6 years old and she has only had 2 problems - her eye, where the skin in the corner can grow over, and growing pains as they grow a lot very quickly. Otherwise she's been very healthy. They are very affectionate and want to "lean" into you all the time, so you do get slobbered on! And ours is very morngy! They are very affectionate
Always been used to a smaller breed. Good to get a different prospective on something of a larger nature.
