Was a very competent League One striker last season but at times this year he doesn't look like a professional footballer. There's clearly something amiss as I doubt Sam has turned terrible overnight for no reason!
Extremely poor yesterday and needs a break away from the 1st team. Perhaps under more astute guidance we would benefit more from the strengths within his game
I said this at the start of the season. He was the first player back in training in the summer. He's become more bulkier so he's lost a yard or two of pace.
I think it's down to his injury last season, before that he was running around, chasing everything. Now he just looks lost. Bad touch, lost his bit of pace, and his leap has gone missing. I can see him leaving next month
Hope not .........good player at this level. Why cant Jonno play to the best players strengths!! Look at the moment we are defensively very weak we concede for fun. So just an idea lets try outscore the opposition, using people like Winnall. This a 20 goal a season playe,r in this or any other team but needs to be played right.
Apart from a purple patch around the back end of 2014 he has been very poor and looked like a man ready to implode
Yeah he scored a bunch of goals in quick succession and not scored that regularly for most of the rest of his 18 months with him. I can see why fans like him but he needs to look at himself and the club can't be fully blamed for how poor he's been this season.
LJ seems be be good at shattering players confidence e.g Davies and Roberts, could also add others to the list
Whys it always someone else's fault with the player himself or people like you who just want to defend him all the time. HE misses chance after chance in game after game HE miss controls the ball yet again that went 6/7 yards away from him when he tried to trap it HE can't out strength a David Perkins HE can't outrun anyone on the pitch it seems. HE wants to complain at anything and everything
I'm going to buck the trend....Winnall for me had yet again a solid game..did fluff one chance..but the other a defender managed to get a foot in. He grafted as usual, and if anyone's committed enough to watch the game on player I think you'll see he won stacks of headers with knock offs that went to red shirts, linked as well as he could in such a generally poor performance, and is still forward thinking with his passing...if people are looking for scapegoats, Sam Winnall is not your man.
Winnall, Pearson, Scowen, Davies, Smith all worse than they were last season. Roberts & Mawson got worse the more they played. It's not a Sam Winnall issue its a Lee Johnson issue
A good striker is always there to miss chances, if he wasn't getting into the spaces you might have cause for complaint. He should be quicker over a yard and a half than the defenders to be there to miss the chances you talk about. I have no answer for your other points.
Ironic that you dislike Winnall and Hourihane - our two best players other than Hammill - who were both signed by Danny Wilson, a manager who you disliked yet would probably have us in a much better position than we are in today had we not given him the boot.
Can't agree....shows the same graft and passion he's always done for me....yesterday was crap but don't let it get out of proportion. If Winnall had have put his chance away everything would have been hunky dory and I doubt anyone would be on here criticising him.
You've pretty much nailed it there Hemsworth lad. Every striker goes through barren periods in terms of goals scored but he offers nothing else and as you summarise very well, he doesn't have any of the attributes to suggest he ever will.
Sam the cheerleader seems to have some arse lickers because he says nice things about the club and he might have kissed the badge. He tweets the the fans and will retweet when people tag him in a tweet criticising the manager which the club should be all over btw.
So anyone who doesn`t share your opinion of him is an arse licker and only like him because of things non football related. Mind reader extraordinaire. You aint changed one bit.
