I've always believed that Facebook account is real but now I firmly believe it is a very clever parody as I don't think for one second that an intelligent person like Patrick Cryne would publicly state in Facebook that the only reason Lee Johnson is keeping is job is because he is taking pity on him over christmas. Looking at that from a football club point of view it is a ridiculous thing to do because you are risking the future of the club out of misplaced loyalty to an underperforming employee. Keeping him for an exta week could mean the difference between staying up or going down. How many employees (who don't receive big payoffs) will Patrick make unemployed in the summer? If we are relegated by a few points is he going to those unemployed former employees and explain that they are out of a job because he didn't want to hurt Lee Johnson's feelings at Christmas? From another angle Lee Johnson isn't an hermit. He has access to Facebook, twitter the BBS, the internet. I wonder how he feels reading that he is most likely getting sacked next week. Reading that his employer has basically said that he won't sack him during Christmas week and strongly hinting that the axe will fall after. Will that make him feel any better than being sacked today? If that was a real account then it would be an utter shambles. Thankfully I believe it is a very clever windup
Well if LeeJay has read his comments then hopefully he might resign, so really Patrick Cryne might be smarter than we think. No pay off, money saved. Come on Lee you know it makes sense. Sent from mi bloody iPhone
I've said many times that I am convinced that the account is a parody but I've been assured by people a lot closer to the club and PC than I am that it is the genuine article. I'm still not 100% convinced but there are some who are convinced and I struggle to doubt their credibility.
Why would he? If I was Lee I would now be happy and expecting a pay off next week. I wouldn't even try to win on boxing day just to make sure
It is extremely worrying isn't it. Everything posted by him screams 'I am not the owner of a multi million pound company' but then people 'in the know' state it really is him. It's up there with Donald trumo running for president. Every ounce of common sense says its a **** take
I'm not in the know per se, but I know it's genuinely his account. I won't explain on here a load of reasons why I know it is, because it'd be boring. But I did invite him to the BBS get together (via private message on facebook) as a piss take, it was a quality and amusing conversation actually, the bloke's got wit and is a delight to chat to and listen to. I like him, from what brief conversations I've had with him. But aye, he suggested the BBS get together might not be the best idea but that he may pop into Redfearn's for the first time (day of the Bradford game). Which he did do. And came and chatted with us. So if it's not Patrick, then I'm not sure how that all occurred. There's many other things that make me secure in the knowledge it's his account. I'm one of the few it seems who hasn't a problem with him having the account, but I don't believe he should be responding as he sometimes does to wally-esque comments. The bloke was wishing folk a good xmas and someone decides to ask him if he's sacking the manager. It's bizarre. But yeh, so was him choosing to respond. *My fondness for Mr Cryne as a human being based on limited time in his company or chatting with him doesn't stop me from having massive reservations about the current BFC strategy in place nor a myriad other mistakes over the years. But, I bet I've made more in my life than he has, and I feel I'm too a decent bloke. You Reds.
Bloody hell. In which case, if I were head coach, I'd be looking forward to the axe falling. There has to be a professional level of confidentiality and discretion in relations between owner and manager - making one's feelings known to some random internet oik can't be appropriate behaviour. Unless of course there is some higher level of irony in that post that has flown over my head.
