Here in Wakefield we are about 3 1/2 feet above normal river levels, it is strange looking out of the boat window and seeing cars on the road, we can only see the trees and banking usually. The flood gates are shut so there is no way to get the cars out of the carpark, so we are stuck here for the time being. At least we wont get flooded out , the boat just goes up with the water ;)

We are in Wakefield opposite the Hepworth Gallery , on the river. A few years ago the it flooded rteally bad down at Calder Grove, some of the boats ended up on the tow path !!
I like the Navigation , decent food too.

Do you know you can get morning updates and alerts via twitter from your local measuring station. I follow the one in Darton as we've had a few floods over recent years, but nothing to worry about at the moment. Although I live up the hill so the level would have to reach the clock tower of Darton Church before I got worried.

Wakefield flood alerts here too http://floodalerts.com/?id=94582

It flooded a couple of weeks ago, the boat was left half stuck on the path, luckily the owner managed to lever it back into the water without too much damage.
It is a lovely spot to work though, id never been on a narrow boat before but I can certainly see the attraction.

Hopefully he will be prepared for it this time. The worst area to flood is right outside the pub which is where the boat was last time, I seem to think he has moved it a few hundred yards.

Aire Valley got hammered this morning - when will they stop building on it? Rains eased off now but folk out in their hundreds watching the river steam through Bingley. Thought I'd nip out and catch a few pics before it got dark. Be safe. https://flic.kr/s/aHskryU1bR

We've had no electricity since about 10am this morning (cue the "you have electricity normally?)

    Rochdale town centre flooded too.
