was watching the floods on the news this morning. It must be totally soul destroying for the flood victims, I was shocked. Many years ago when I was living in Scotland my neighbours pipe burst and flooded out both theirs and my house, it was heart breaking.... but that was clean treated water... but the floods of the Somerset levels and now the north of England is river water, the sediment and rubbish it brings must be as bad if not worse than the actual flood water, I do not know how they are coping.... and especially at this time of year. A huge cut in the amount of money we send overseas as foreign aid should be made in order to sort this mess out.

We could save a fortune on missiles by not trying to murder innocent people abroad too

I agree with everything you said (see the footage I posted in separate thread of areas near me) except for the last bit. People are people whether they live in this country or not and even with the horrendous flood problems there are still people far, far worse off in other countries. As awful as it is, people here will recover with insurance claims and help from family and friends. As people have posted above, there are other areas to cut money.

It's not about Tory or labour or any other political party. It's about power. Any party in government wants more power, they are power hungry. What's the easiest way to gain power? Control. What's the easiest way to control people? Fear. What's the easiest way to create fear? Convince people that they are under threat from people who are 'different'. And how does that translate to power? Simple. You convince them that you are their protectors. How do you do that? You show your might.

It's been going on for thousands of years. It's why religion exists in the first place.
