The turnstile operator should have told you to go to the box office to get the discount rate. I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned on here time and time again and the spiel from the club is that the operator's are told this but it never seems to happen

But what is the reason that turnstiles can't accept a lower amount? Nobody has ever justified that or even attempted to. Surely a turbstyle operator can hand over a £5 ticket just as easily as an £18 ticket. Easier in fact due to the change issue.

Is it actually that we don't trust our operators?

It's not if YOU can get your act together and don't blame the club for you not being ars×d to go and buy a discounted ticket.

Do you complain to the national lottery too that you would have chosen the latest winning numbers but forgot to buy a ticket ????????????

So he can't come on here with an utterly pointless post trying to slash the club off for his own shortsightedness ...

Seeing as the cheaper ticket for juvenile is buy in advance that's why he has to, otherwise he pays price on gate.

So you have to just because they say you have to. What is the reason to justify such an increase?

If it's anything like previous seasons (not been this) there used to be plenty of folk hawking their free juvenile tickets for a £5 just outside the gates.

    But why £5 then £18?!? Upto £7, a tenner maybe. But a 350%+ increase!
Imagine if the adults were the same?????
    It is slightly mad!

You can still get a £5 ticket up until kick-off from the box office even if you haven't booked online....which you can do even at 2.45 still!!!

What about a last minute change of plan meaning you can attend? £18 for an 11 year old is ridiculous but if the club want to lose fans from the next generation then let them continue.

I understand both points of view.

I'd imagine the club are attempting to get as many people to buy in advance as possible. They get greater certainty on numbers attending for stewarding and policing reasons which will save costs. If everyone paid in advance fewer turnstiles would need to be operated which will again save costs.

If it's true that people tout their free juvenile ticket for next to nothing then I can understand the significant increase in price. If you're going to rely on buying a ticket from someone looking to make a few quid at the expense of the club then there should be some downside for failing to find a seller, namely £18. It'll put people off turning up at 2:55 and getting in without paying the club anything (if it was £7 they'd probably continue to do so and take the risk). Instead they'll buy in advance or turn up at 2:45 and buy from the box office for a discounted price.

That said, it's not a perfect system and I can understand the discontent. I've not used the online booked system so no idea how easy it is to use but I'd imagine in a few years time we'll do away with turnstile operators altogether and the purchase of tickets will all be online. This is just a step towards that.

See here's the thing, unlike what appears to be your perfect world, not everybody lives in the area, not everybody is sure if they can make it until like thte last minute, and funnily enough kids can be very unpredictable in their moods and social arrangements. Even if you could if you are travelling a fair way and can't get down early you and the kid could get piss wet through standing in a massive queue to pick up the tickets.
But the thing is that kind of price is going to put people off bringing young kids and the kid who got roped in at the last minute to view at a reasonable price might just be one of the ones who find they like it and want to go back.

When we've been playing like we have prices don't come into it.

    Our kids have free tickets.

Youngest we never score when he goes so he's not bothered.

Eldest just sick of us being **** and won't go.

That's 2 free tickets. So 5 or 18 is immaterial.

Saying that he was gutted when he saw the blackpool result (eldest). Says he will go v Millwall now.

The fair weather little **** lol.

    That's a given mate.

As is the 2 in front of us. Always handing him sweets.

I feel for him. It's all he's known. I'm desperate for a bit of success cos he's football nuts. Well apart from the great escape. Which I think we all enjoyed.

So up to now he will be in attendance on Saturday :)

Once the good times return (and they will), he'll appreciate them more. Well, that's how my late Dad brainwashed me, anyway!:D:D
