Pearson seems to be getting better...........

.......one driving run down the wing was a sign of proper class.

He's now got the makings of a mini-Roy Keane.

 

Bad news is he's going back to man u, dearne fm just reported

 

I find it strange he has upped his game considerably in the last 2 displays.

The cynic in me says he is putting himself on display in the shop window but i may be wrong!

 

For me he's played the exact same as he has all season, minus the occasional misplaced pass. He's been completely faultless these last 2 games.

Though he was off to Bournemouth last week...

 

Pearson had been brilliant all season.

Funny that the clique on here have done nothing but slate him.

LJ just confirmed on Dee darr that he's going back. Isgrove staying a while longer, Wabara talks this evening.

 

This is wrong.

For much of the season he has shown little drive (unlike Hourihane he can spray passes on the move, beat a man going forward and lay it off either side) and has taken the very low percentage option.

Recently he has driven us forward - like Ryan Williams needs to - albeit from a base nearer the back four.

He has the ability to bring the team together.

He and the team need the confidence to make it happen. I think that they have the talent, individually.

 

I thought we did well to get Pearson again this season, its a shame hes not staying for the whole season. Theres no way in hell that Manure will use him, he will just end up on loan somewhere else.

I agree. Not his biggest fan but my MOTM today. Lovely seeing him making so many charging runs, good tackles and forward passes. Shame that's the end of it.

 

Maybe now they are being asked to play in a more positive light we are seeing more from all the players. Much of the season was very negative with one up front and lacked a Hammil type player and wasn`t making much use of Winnall either. For me the manager/ board got it wrong early season and what worries me is that Johnson still talks as though we are doing this because we have to and not because he wants to.

 

I really don't know what to make of him. I don't like this suddenly turning it on when your deals nearly up that we've seen from Wabara & Isgrove.

I'm not sure I'd put Pearson in the same category because although he's upped his performances in the last 2 games his efforts always been there. I just think he's an inconsistent young player

 

I can't agree. It's no coincidence that he's been man of the match about 5 times at home this season. And that doesn't include the last 2 games. Far too good to be playing for us in this league, as much was clear last season.

He's not 'far too good for this league' because he's been an ever present in a side that have been bottom four most of the season. He's had some very average games, made some huge mistakes (see Altrincham) and can rub folk up the wrong way with his antics at times. I don't think I'll ever forget the moment against Sheff Utd where he stood and argued with the referee instead of taking the ball forward towards goal, thus allowing the defender to clear unopposed.

That's not being harsh, unfair or overly critical.

Likewise, I've often found him a joy to watch. At Oakwell he's possibly been our most consistent player. Not always amazing, but rarely poor in home games. Away from home it's been a different story, I've seen him struggle to impose himself and then the mistakes appear. But at Wigan in the cup he put in the best box-to-box midfield performance I've seen from a reds laiker since Drinkwater was here. Others were good that day, but Ben bossed proceedings. I think he's generally been good for a month or so now, consistently so.

I don't buy the idea that he's just putting himself in the shop window. That would mean he's played averagely for most of the season, on purpose, as in he can't be arsed. I'm not sure even his true detractors could accuse him of being un-arsed. He's given it his all in my opinion, which is always more appreciated when they're just loanees.


So all in all, I'm sad to see him depart. And would like to see him return.

He's not **** and he's not amazingly good. He's a decent enough youngster at this level with lots to learn.




Someone referred to James Bailey further up. I'd have stated summat like that, a few months ago. But having the option of Bailey or Pearson I'd now pick Ben every time. Amazing how time/events shape your opinions, eh?

However, I'd pick Scowen over both.

 

Wonder what happened a month ago to see this upturn and not just for Pearson.

 

A very good young player who will in my mind have a long Premiership career.The problem we face now is replacing him.Do we go and try and sign another young Premier midfielder with great potential or go for some one with league one experience.?
