Bit crazy at times but I was really pleased with Barnsley in attack especially on the counter attack.

A former Football says about Theo Walcott, My names Theo and i'm a striker. Well it should be said about Watkins, My names Marley and i'm a striker.
In all honesty how much does he improve the team upfront. For me massively and it's a double edged improvement. He defends from the front when the team don't have the ball and will force a defender to go down the line which in turn should create mistakes. On the ball he offers the lot IMO. Hes quick so he offers a threat inbehind. He runs the channels so well and can hold the ball up and will try and get a chance to score.

Hammill very good and it was good for Winnall to get the goal after making a few mistakes early with anticipation and positional awareness of team mates.

Off the ball I really struggle to see why the team struggle because they are doing things right imo. The midfielders are getting goal side with Winnall dropping team and making it a 4411 off the ball. But still we struggled at times and Mawson having to clear the ball off the line three times.

    Maybe it's confidence?

Winnall has 10 goals and 7 assists now. Good job LJ didn't drop him eh? :D

But yep, confidence is massive for footballers. Wins breed confidence. Let's hope this is just the second win of a lengthy winning sequence and we can have a pop at the top half.

I like Watkins, works hard and has a decent pair of feet for a bloke his size. Two absolute bellpieces near me though like to abuse him at any opportunity, laughing as he went down injured today.

Good performance today, shame we're not playing our next league game for 2 weeks as I'd have fancied us vs Shrewsbury after they got hit for 7. Hopefully the upturn in fortunes will continue by getting one foot in the JPT final next weekend.

Don't think anyone is suggesting Winnall should be dropped but he can be very frustrating in possession. Whilst ever he's scoring he's beyond criticism of course and today he provided a brilliant assist as he did last week. I guess if he added an all round game to his goal scoring he'd not be hanging around with us for much longer so long may his perceived crapness continue!

No, trust me, a lorra folk wanted him dropped, including the OP, hence my playful response. :)

He's a 15-20 goal a season striker at this level. Not sure why folk can't lap that up rather than expect him to do this, that and summat else. The lad scores and creates goals. As does Hourihane, as does Hammill. It's up to the defenders to defend, too. That's been the issue in the last couple of months.

He'll never move forward if he believes that. It makes me chuckle when people say Jordan Rhodes should be playing in the prem because he scores goals. People should realise it takes a lot more than that to play at the highest level the player possibility can. He does zero for the team.

Gary Linekar made a pretty good career from doing absolutely nothing except scoring goals.

    Welcome to 2016,

Lionel Messi may have just taken his career goals tally to an incredible 401, but Barcelona coach Luis Enrique claims there is more to his game than simply scoring.
The Argentinian phenomenon netted twice during the Catalan's 6-0 thrashing of Granada on Saturday, but his manager has been equally impressed by his dedication to defending.
‘He’s an impressive player on every level because he can score and he can pass,' said Enrique.
‘He’s also a very determined player, and I think he’s also the No. 1 in terms of defending and dropping back.

If it's important for a superstar like Messi to do then it's something I expect Barnsley players to try and do.

And a fantastic performance. Maybe we should ban Andy from all future games.

What has the year got to do with it Phil? There were players like Messi in the game at the same time as Linekar but that didn't mean he wasn't a world class striker. Linekar would still be a world class striker today because he would still score goals at every level.

Gary Liniekar wouldn't play for Barcelona now. He just wouldn't if he didn't want to defend. Look at there front 3. neymar suarez messi. There hardest working players when Barcelona don't have the ball.

Why does Messi need to track back when he spends most of his time playing against tripe like Almeria and Getafe?

I know - I spelt Lineker wrong! Apologies for spelling the name wrong of such a great player.
