Anyone notice that Toney was on Newcastle's bench yesterday?

So he swapped playing in a good game in the rain in Barnsley, in front of 8,700 for sitting in a soft seat doing nothing among 59,000.

I bet he'd rather have been at Oakwell. Curious that he got recalled and yet Armstrong is still at Coventry, and scoring a bag full. Just shows how stupid the loan system is when a club cannot recall a player in form (presumably he is tied down to a season-long loan?)

 

Maybe they just thought Toney was a better fit for their current squad if they needed to call on him? Taller player etc.

 

Armstrong wasn't tied down they have just extended his loan that was due to end next week until the end of the season.

 

Might sound daft as Armstrong has scored a few but they might think toney is the better player?

Who knows for sure but I'm actually glad we've had Watkins upfront last 2 games, toney may have done equally as well of course

 

Was on't bench boxing day too, everyone in Chennells cheered when he came on the screen.
