I hear the EU are going to insist that all members start to regulate the sale of e-cigs and liquids...whilst I haven't fully made the conversion, it's something I'm looking to do in the near future as I've really started to get accustomed to them now I've figured out how to build a tank that suits my tastes. Obviously some consistent regulation was always going to be needed but what concerns me is that the government will just use this as an excuse to tax the hell out of the liquid and for me, to be perfectly honest, the only motivation for giving up tobacco is the cost. If it's only marginally more expensive to smoke tobacco then I'd just stick with that. I know non-smokers would just say 'stop altogether' but as fellow smokers will know it's hard. It's not just the fact that I enjoy a smoke, particularly when having a drink, but it's little things like breaking up the morning at work...going for one mid-morning and mid-afternoon just breaks the day up a bit (I do clock out so it's not free toss-off time). It's almost as if the government seem to be more intolerant of e-cigs than they do for tobacco, even though so-called experts seem to be divided they do agree that it is surely far less dangerous than smoking. It wouldn't surprise me to see the liquid taxed so much that it ends up costing £15 a bottle at least, which then surely just opens up a black market for the stuff which is obviously far more dangerous. The main point put across is that e-cigs will act as a gateway for non-smokers/young people to move on to tobacco - that really is a poor argument.
100% agreed. Stopped over 2 years ago with these. What I get now is people saying when you stopping ecigs I don't want to. It's that or I smoke again. Patches willpower and all the other ******** are just that. I want something in my hand and that hit in my throat. These 2 are it. Ecigs not filling lungs with tar and all the other ****. Governments can't wait to get hands on it and tax it into oblivion
Thanks to my ecig I haven't touched a cigarette in almost 3 years. I buy my liquid off the markets, you can get good quality stuff for 5 bottles for a tenner. I imagine if the government gets their hands on em you would be talking 4 quid a bottle.
I'm just surprised it's taken this long for the government to look at where they can recoup that lost taxation from people giving up smoking. I gave up seven years ago and the cravings over the last year have pushed me to an e-cig which has really helped. If the take away the financial incentive for people to stay on e-cigs then we really are on a slippery slope.
Here's a relevant quote for you from a book I am currently reading: “When you borrow trouble against what might be, you neglect the moment you have now to enjoy. The man who worries about what will next be happening to him loses this moment in dread of the next, and poisons the next with pre-judgment.”
As anon smoker I do feel for you guys at times....to some people it's there only outlet and yet there shafted all ends up by the greed of our government....they'd be certainly pissed off if everyone out there cigs out!
A mate who goes to footy started on them to look cool and now smokes proper cigs. End of the day it's a drug. Yeah I know so is alcohol.
i see school boys smoking them every day in bus station trying to impress their mats. i'm moving on to them after 30+ years. not got the hang of em quite yet
As a non-smoker, I think they should be banned. But then again, if it wasn't for the taxation revenue I can't think of a good reason for the continued legalization of traditional cigs.... Saying that, it did make me smile to see someone with a proper pipe in the town centre last week. First time I've seen one for years.
I wish they (The EU)would force mobile companies to be properly regulated and provide SOME kind of customer service for the benefit of the cash cows........ I mean clients
That's the truth right there. The government have done all they can to stop people smoking. Public places ban, hiding them behind counters, putting prices up all the time etc. Now they are thinking **** we are losing cash from all these people quiting so we need to find it back another way.
