Decided to pay £20 each for me and the Mrs to go into the escape lounge. Already had a couple of bacon sarnies and tea on tap! Followed by 2 beers for me, 2 gin and tonic for the Mrs. Lunch is just coming out.... Salads galore, hot meat pies, pasties, quiche, soup, sandwiches. No screaming kids....... Best £40 I've spent in an airport. And even better... Someone will come and tell us when our gate is open...
I have always been sceptical... just spoke to one of the staff and it's hectic in the summer, but in the winter it's chilled out and very relaxing. Mate...don't hesitate it's really great to start your hollibobs. It's already paid for itself with what we have eaten and drunk Only problem I've found so far, it's too relaxing and I could easily nod off!
was once in east mids airport lounge, we were the only ones in it most of the time, fully stocked bar, all self service, someone would pop in now and again to replenish the bar & snacks, 3 hours for £15, would have spent that in an hour in the normal airport bar to this day i don't know how i was allowed to board the plane!
I finished up having the 2 beers and about half a dozen rum and coke. I'm a lightweight so.... feel asleep for the 4 hour flight. Bonus!.
The Mrs and I are a combined age of 87. We are the youngest I've seen so far by about twenty combined years.. Short on beach = less lager louted Brit's abroad. Sedate, relaxing, snails paced holiday for us.
I am surprised you have actually seen anybody. I thought you might have had the island to yourself. We have been to Madeira several times for the lead up to New Year. It feels like the whole tourist population of the island makes its way back to the airport first thing on New Years Day. One year our flight was not until the 2nd and when we went out for the evening on New Years Day it was like the Mary Celeste
