Big Mick sees him as a centre half. Pretty much what most of us have been saying for the last few years. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35222135 Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I dont understand why we cant be bothered to put the time and effort into coaching him there. Its unfortunate for the lad but due to his injuries he just hasn't got the attributes to play centre midfield at a high level. It's not a given he'll make it as a centre half though either. The most important attributes as a defender come naturally like we've seen in Foster and Bobby.
That wouldn't bother me, I'd love to see the lad get on, but tbh I can only see Ipswich sending him back at the end of the loan....although Mick did give Frank Nouble 56 games...so I could be wrong.
Mick saying what many of us have thought for years. His height, build and lack of pace/mobility is much more suited to centre half than centre midfield.
Aye we might well and they might well but at the end of the day we've tried with numerous managers and numerous setups to make it work with him here and it simply doesn't. Good luck to him but if he is to find success I just can't see it being here. Sometimes works that way for certain players. That's why I always find threads that down right flopped here but score elsewhere a bit ridiculous.
One of the things that has held Digby back is his lack of physical presence for a lad of his size. That is surely going to be even more of an issue at centre back. Really good centre backs also have the ability to distribute the ball well. On the evidence of his home appearances this season, this lad can't make a constructive forward pass. And the sidewards/backwards ones often don't find our own man (costing us goals on more than one occasion). He's not worth a fee as things atsnd, and given our league position and limited resources, we don't have the time or leeway to attempt to turn him around. Good luck to the lad in future, but I don't see what else we can do but cut our losses at this stage, disappointing though that is.
Seen him ping a 50 yard crossfield ball beckham-esque in a friendly against Bordeaux I think it was. The kid clearly has some technical ability somewhere in him, maybe the change will do him good. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I disagree with this. When we played Walsall last season Digby often challenged for headers with Tom Pope & came out on top more often than not. I'm not saying he's the strongest in the world but if you can match up well against Pope you'll have more physical presence than most
If anyone can get something out of him at centre back it has to be Mick. Hope the lad makes it. We seem capable of developing players, but not breaking them into the first team... a lack of managerial nous & I'm not just pointing the finger at LJ....
