John Short, right back, signed, I think from Stoke. Duncan Sharp, centre half, local lad, real animal. Colin Swift, local lad, cultured left back.
Colin Swift passed away a year or two ago. Gentle soul, worked for a few years as a milkman for the Co-op after his retirement from football. Friendly guy, he was.
Duncan Sharp was centre-half in the early 60's when my dad first took me to Oakwell as a nipper. We also had Frank Sharpe in the early 70's
Colin Swift, great bloke, used to be our milkman and used to have a coffee every morning in our house.
remember Duncan just, big strong lad bald head but as hard as nail's We always found a good centre half then just what we need now I.M.H.O
We had a Bishop and an Archdeacon, led by Moses to the Garden of Eaden. Remember hoping we'd sign Phil Priest from Shrewsbury Town to complete the set!
Watched Duncan Sharp play at Huddersfield when Dennis Law was an upcoming star but he only got one kick and that was on the ankle from Sharp and retired from the game.
Remember Duncan Sharpe from school BGS. A year older than me I dare say that Geo Robledo knows him too. He retired early and founded a successful Haulage Business. Cabby Swift was the same age as him and married my mates sister but sadly the marriage did not last.
