Was impressed by the no. 35, White I think he's called. Did a few decent runs forward. Midfield was very weak, nobody could tackle, very powder puff. Winnall and Williams did not work. Poor old Williams might as well have been selling flowers on Barnsley market he was so ineffectual. Winnall won enough headers to be useful but there was nobody there to help him, he spends far too much time bitching and moaning and fouling. Hammill disappointed me, I had been looking forward to seeing him again, but he seemed more inclined to spit his dummy out at every opportunity. Apart from the cross for our goal he was disappointing. New lad, well done for the goal and a few decent runs to the byline. Nice to see 11000 home fans, the Ponty looked very full from the East stand, plenty of empty seats but not blocks of them. East stand seemed well populated too. Good noise after we scored. Draw was about the right result.
He's been our best player for the past three games, in my opinion. Hard to believe he's only 24, especially with that hair line.
I thought White had a really good second half but they got in behind several times down our left first half (although some of that is to do with the lack of cover in front - not a criticism because Hammill should be given freedom to play). I think Williams is being given a bit of a rough ride. He was the one player who did get in to goal scoring positions and had three good chances. Unfortunately his, and the rest of the teams, shooting was woeful
Agree with both of your points. I feel sorry for Williams, as you say he got himself into good positions but his shooting was not good enough. There's one thing I will say about him, he never stopped trying, he tired me out just watching him!
I'm pretty confident that Williams will come good and a finished product once he gets back to full match fitness He has been out for a very long time Sent from the old chair by the windows using tapatalk
I'm not surprised Hammill spat his dummy out. Whenever he or White beat their man they were cynically fouled, again and again and again.
That's where we are naive though. We should have capitalised on the fact that most of their defensive players were in cards and rancat them. Instead we pumped in hopeful/hopeless balls
