tried to get a drink and summit to eat in ESL yesterday - was an absolute farce queued for about 15 mins for a pint, got to front - saw the advertisement for a meal deal so asked for that to be told (theirs no food) so asked for a pint to be told - theirs no larger left!!!! so walked off saw queue for food was about 10-15 mins long, so decided to walk to other end of ESL to see if queue was smaller, joined that queue, finally got to front, asked for a pie - theirs none left, asked for a sausage roll - "none left", asked what hot food they had left to be told all they had was salt and vinegar crisps or a small bag of minstrals for £2.50!!!!
Yep the whole club is a joke , I know it's outside catering they knew the home ticket sales were in excess of 10000 it just beggars belief .
Every time we get a bigger home gate, Sheff Utd & yesterday if you wait until the half time whistle to join the queue you miss some of the 2nd half. It's ****. I don't see what sort of match day experience it is standing in a queue for 20 minutes just to get a drink & then been made to feel like a tit as you go back to your seat 5 minutes in the 2nd half & everyone has to stand up to let you past. Can't even stop & talk to my mates if I see them because if I do I'll miss even more of the 2nd half. Need's more staff on. Even when the gates low we still queue for close to 15 minutes
You could eat and drink before the match, then You wouldn't have any trouble..its only a couple of hours.
Not the point though is it?! Some people want to eat at the ground and the club should have catered accordingly as they knew how many tickets had been pre-sold but yet again they've ****** up! I was sat in the East Stand Upper and at half time I went down onto the concourse area, some people were going ballistic with the catering staff when they got to the front of the queue to find out we had sold out of pretty much all the food. #neverlearn
And there was only 2-3,000 more home fans there yesterday than usual. Imagine what it would be like if we (by some miracle) ended up getting 17-18,000 again.
Eat at the ground before the match...Ive never understood people rushing to get food at half time..some miss the end of the 1st half, some the start of the 2nd..never got it!
Yes but he does have a point people leave some 5 or 10 mins before half time you wouldn't miss 5 or ten mins of a film to get some popcorn. Well I wouldn't.
No, but it would be better if they bought it before they sat down..eat it when they want...I'm not telling anyone what to do..just shut the **** up whinging about not getting a pie or pint.
You can't take a pint pitch side though. (As it happens, I did buy a soft drink before the match and took it into the stands with me. I then had to spend the whole match trying not to knock the thing over due to the lack of lid!)
No, I wouldn't. However, the reason people do that is because otherwise they will have to queue for 10 mins or miss that much of the second half. Putting more staff on as suggested above would solve that.
Is the point not that the supporter should be able to enjoy the matchday experience and reasonably expect to get the pint and/or pie at half time that he normally gets? Instead of finding out that either everything is sold, or that there are still only 2 bar staff, unable to cope, despite the obvious extra demand from a larger crowd. Are they not bothered about revenue or repeat custom? Why have the food / ale outlet if they do not want to encourage people to come and buy it?
You would have to put a fair wack of staff on to avoid a Que at half time. It would probley be counter productive for the catering company they would have to put that many staff on to serve everyone in 15 mins they would make a loss. Happens every away ground where they is a decent away following and the clubs know how many away fans will turn up. You will never be able to serve that amount of people at half time I'm afraid.
There are 2 sets of lager/beer dispensers at each bar downstairs in East Stand. One set was not used yesterday, so logic dictates that more staff could have served twice as many people as they did yesterday.
The ques people are speaking of you would still not serve everyone who wants food or drink in 15 mins. Doesn't bother me I don't use the facilities hardly ever.
Heres a tip for you JD...If you remember carry a spare top in your bag/pocket...all plastic pop bottles have the same size top..its what I used to do when I took the kids.
Agree 100% with this, from what I saw people didn't mind queuing it was the fact there weren't enough supplies to meet the demand! It would have been courteous if someone from the management side of the catering firm had gone down the queues explaining there was no hot food and to not bother queuing if that's what you wanted!!
