    Long term solution.

Still think that would have been a great signing.

In his prime..yes, whether he's still got the legs is a different matter.

The more I think about this the more I feel like the club have potentially made a bit of a howler.

I see few reasons to suggest that Colace wouldn't have been a decent central midfielder in this league. When we had him training with us his trial warranted an extension, so he must have impressed enough to achieve that, and from what I heard his fitness levels were good and his performances quite impressive.

At this time we should have known the future of Ben Pearson and whether he would be choosing to sign permanently or not. Colace would have been a great signing until the end of the season, on next to nothing wages (straight from the horse's mouth), and could have improved his sharpness over the last six weeks and been in a good place to take the field last Saturday and this Saturday.

Add to that, that whilst he was here Scowen got injured, then it seems strange that we didn't take him on. We've left ourselves short when it wouldn't have been hindsight to see our midfield issues coming.

    If the midfield issue

Is that we need a complete waste of a shirt, then yes he's as good an option as any

Was ****ing awful in his prime. 4 years selling coffee beans doesnt inspire me to think he'll be any better now.

We may as well register Hassell or LJ himself, if it's that bad that we need to get Hugo back after not playing football for years and failing a trial very recently.

    He's been playing football though?

No different to some of the youngsters we've signed with zero first team experience or previous loans under their belts, or some of the historic injury prone players that managed minimal games in a number of years.

Exactly, it's not what I'd want. You've explained why.

Let's stick with Brad until either we recruit in there, or Josh Scowen returns. That'd be my choice. Not signing laikers who dunt really laik, or another bairn who ant ever laiked.

I don't think we have a midfield issue. Stick with Abbott giving him much needed game time and allowing him a few average/poor performances but sticking by him. When we get Scowen back either stick with Abbott based on performances between now and then or put in Scowen and have a fully fit Abbott ready on the bench. If anything happens to Abbott bring in a short term loan that we like so much. CM is one position i'd not be trying to strengthen right now. We would only go faffing about with the formation again to try and accomodate Hourihane, Scowen and the new signing and go back to the poor form that's brought for us in the past.

I'm not a massive fan of Colace but what your saying would have been good planning and given us a bit of continuity.
