He could be the most important signing this season, as Scowen was last season. That midfield is crucial with how we play. Get a settled midfield with quality players like the 2 Joshes and Conor, with Hammill on the wing. We'll pittle this league next season. A few tweaks here n there and we'll be laughing.

PS Pat please put your hand into the club piggy bank and tie these players down on a 2-3 year contract.

is that a settled midfield though? looks imbalanced to me, with only 1 natural winger. this is my worry with signing several midfielders. we've been here before where LJ has started to c0ck about with formation to squeeze them in. i think getting isgrove for the rest of the season is a key signing. josh coming back will be like a new signing as well

    davies
    bree
    long
    mawson
    white
    isgrove
    hourihane
    scowen
    hammill
    watkins
    winnall

looks like a decent XI to me that

I like that team but maybe we are waiting to see if williams picks up some form to take Isgrove place

exactly , right now, and for the past 6 weeks we have been a good team, we haven't got a good squad however.

this seasons relative drift to mid table obscurity depends on our ability to keep a few key players fit

We do need strength in depth. If that means one of the regulars gets dropped then thats a good thing. Means Brownhill or other signings are making an impact

Only objection to that would be to try and get a better striker than Watkins!

Why? Watkins has everything. Pace, power wins headers and good with his feet? Also brings players into the game and scores and creates goals.

Hammill is a must, we should try everything we can to keep him. Whether he'd want to is another thing but he's got the chance to settle down and be a real cult hero at barnsley, he's a fans favourite.

Seems to me in a funny sort of way that the less players we have the better we get. More quality and less quantity maybe creates a tighter knit team and spirit amongst the players.

I don't care what anyone says, I like Winnall (even more so after today) but Watkins is a more complete striker than him. We don't need a new striker unless it's for back-up. We need another centre half to put pressure on the two we have to up their game.

I don't think we'll keep Hammill next season. Genuinely too good for league 1

Nah. We're not man city. We don't compete in enough competitions to sustain a 22. At our level it's probably more like a solid 16, with another 3 or 4 to cover when injuries hit

I think he'll only c0ck about with it if we aren't winning games. Or if we have so many games, like next month when we have 8, where he has little option.
I think he's learned a lot about what formation suits certain players and what doesn't.

Today may or may not be a flash in the pan, but the suggestion is that, with or without Pearson, we are on an upward momentum. And that upward momentum has coincided with the arrival of Hammill and White on the left hand-side running at the defence and trying to get in behind the opposition rather than playing possession football and triangles in front of it like we were doing before.

We'll see. I'm optimistic we are going to start picking up some serious points now, in which case we have to start negotiating with players soon for next year and beyond.

Except he can't score on a regular basis.

really pleased with how we've responded to life without pearson. i wasn't massively worried tbh, because i knew josh was coming back and for me, i'd have him over pearson every day. still think it's a gap we need a permanent fix for.

tekl me I'm wrong, his worst trait is finishing or decision making, I honestly don't know how you don't see that.
