https://youtu.be/0Fs1Zn43UWc http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35270048 This is one of my personal bug bares, how do BBC (or OPTA as is credited by them) correlate the statistics that they provide? I have just watched the partial highlights on You Tube and have counted 8 efforts on target. I presume that 'on target' means efforts going between the goalposts? However according to the BBC/OPTA we only had 4 on target! Am I missing something? what is their definition of 'on target'? This is not the only game where I have looked at the statistics and thought that can't be right. Does anybody know how the statistics are counted or do they just put what they want? I have some context on this, earlier in the season I managed to get a complimentary ticket for the York City JPT game, and the tickets were next to the press box, so I decided to try and watch who I think was providing the statistics/text commentary for that game and he seemed to miss numerous incidents that were going on in the game, as well as updating his Facebook and Twitter all at the same time! This is probably some sort of reason for the flawed statistics BUT what is the point of broadcasting them to the world if they bare no resemblance to what happens actually?
Same with me, thats why I thought I had to post something. If the statistics are not going to be accurate whats the point? Anybody not a fan of either team yesterday will get a totally inaccurate picture of how the game was!
