Yes hes a good player no doubt about it but Johnson needs to tell him its not a 1 Man Team, that from corner where he could have laid it off to Hourihane for a cross but he decides to try and do skill and loses the ball. Conor had a go at him and rightly so
Let him try it, it might come off or it might not but he's a very skllful player who should be allowed to express himself. If it came off 9/10 he wouldn't be playing for Barnsley.
Hammill had an off day today, despite getting an assist, just shows how good he is. We won 6-1, in the grand scheme of things his greediness and the failure to pull of skill moves didn't matter today. Be critical when it does matter by all means.
I said the same at the game but I don't think you can coach it out of him so I'll accept the odd bit of selfishness as trade in against everything else he brings the team.
we've been waiting aged for someone to take people on. OK he isn't going to beat them all the time but he certainly gets me out of my seat
Whilst you have a valid point, our turnaround of fortunes coincides with Hammil rejoining us. Even though he may not be successful every time, you have to accept that he is human, and thus will not be successful all the time. Whether he is or not he puts fear into the opposing defenders who have to devote more o their resources to stop him. This creates more opportunities for the rest of the team. With every player there are plusses and minuses. With Hammil the plusses are far in excess of the minuses. He dramatic performances is brightening up Oakwell and it is rubbing off on all the team. Pray to God that the manage to persuade him to sign for a longer period at the end of the season. Whilst bigger money at other clubs may beckon, I doubt he would move to somewhere where the crowd think as much of him as they do at Barnsley. Hopefully money is not the only thing he wants. He has the potential to a so called Oakwell Legend. I for one will put up with his faults for the joy of watching a very entertaining player.
Agree, up there with Paddy McCourt in terms of entertainment when things are going right for him skill moves wise.
Quality player , great to watch and does a great job for team . Worth the ticket money to watch him play , hope we can keep him next few seasons
Without Hammill I'm not sure the turnaround would have happened. He was the player to give the ball to when the team lacked confidence. We now have confidence coming back & heads are up. One or two players can make that difference. Him & Aidy White have worked really well on that side. Williams did great today, but bearing in mind he was played out of position he was never gonna do the overlapping. Bree & Isgrove did pretty well at that on the other side.
hey if that today was when Hammill wasnt at his best, i cant wait for him to be at his best and see us hit 10 or more past a team
Hammills our one player that can make something happen out of nothing. I'll never knock the bloke for trying new tricks to benefit our team. Gets me on the edge of my seat
Another thing I love about Hammill too is that he seems genuinely over the moon with how our fans chant his babe every game. Let's be clear here, he is certainly good enough for a fair few championship teams but he been there and done that and come back to us!! I really hope the club can get him on a 2 year fixed and convince him that he is 1 of a few players to guide is back to the championship.... Don't let us down this time Patrick and Ben!!
That would be in all our wishes. I'll just enjoy him while we have him. I don't expect to see him after this season. If we do......
