Be interesting to see how he develops. http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2016/jan/23/10-young-footballers-2016
Seem to have seen Everton numerous times this season on tele and I don't think he's even been on the bench. They tried to sign Sam Byram and unless they planned to use him as a midfielder, that would have pushed Holgate even further than the pecking order.
He's been injured for a few weeks but up until then he was starting every U21 game. It took Stones months to break through as well. If they do a pre season tour and Holgate goes then he'll have a good chance of starting first team games.
I think you could see when they both played for us that holgate was a little behind where Stones was, he may just need that extra year of development at Everton. They've got a decent young player there though and hopefuly he will do well..... shall i start ?.... do we have a sell on fee ???????
I think Holgate's a long term prospect & I doubt anyone at Everton expected him to be in the first team this season. Jagielka won't be at the top level much longer & Stones will in all likelihood leave so opportunities will be there for Holgate I'd imagine
