I think with hammil watkins winnall hourhine isgrove fletcher and josh scowern coming back from injury we can attack knowing we can out score any team in this league. Also our defence looks much better with long in there. So imo the best bet would be for promotion hardly likely yes but relegation is even more unlikely.
Exactly. Basically what you need to ask is, if you played out this season from this point 25 times, do you reckon we'd get into the playoffs at least once? I think we probably would, and on that basis I think it's a decent bet. It's not likely to come off, but I think the odds of it coming off are shorter than 100/1. Plus if we do make it into the playoffs you can hedge. B*gger, I've talked myself into having a little bet here.
What would we need to get into the play-offs? About 40 points from 20 games and then no guarantees that would be sufficient. So 10 wins, 10 draws, 0 defeats. Then win the extra 2 games in the play-offs. 100/1 doesn't sound overly generous to me.
Depends we are 10 points behind with a game in hand win the game in hand 7 points adrift. Not that many really with 20 games left alot of the times the form team who sneaks into the play offs ends up winning them. I remember Ipswich been bottom around xmas time in the championship many years back Roy Keane took over and they ended up been promoted a fluke maybe but still promoted.
Yes but the 'win the game in hand and we are only 7 points adrift' argument makes it sound more doable than it is really. Thing is, there are 10 teams above us, so you only need one or two of the teams above us to go on a good run themselves and you'll struggle to catch them. I'd be more than happy for us to continue the way we are doing, finish top half and work on getting key players on longer term contracts. And hopefully no wholesale changes this summer.
We have an outside chance of the play offs if..... 1) We don't lose any players in the transfer window 2) We keep Long & Fletcher for the season 3) We are relatively free of injuries. I reckon 100/1 is about right but a wager would make a play off final even more unbearably tense.
You mean Sunderland? That was more like bottom after about 6 games not christmas and they ended up running away with the league. Probably the most dominant side in that league while we were back in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Could of been sure Ipswich did it also after more than 6 games they were still struggling in December. Last time we were promoted out of this league in 06 we came on strong at the end
Dont think Keane ever even got Ipswich to the play offs and last time we were promoted we started kicking on about November time if I remember right, from mid table. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He was Ipswich manager in 09 till 11 but I don't think I was him. and I don't think we got into the play off places till the new year as I can remember supporters losing patience with Andy Ritchie
