We've got to accept that, if his contract is up in the summer, the only way we could be reasonably certain of holding on to Sam would be to offer him a new contract to extend his stay. We have been connected with other strikers such as Harry Bunn at Huddersfield and Nichols at Exeter City. I think that Sam has been a credit to himself and the team during his time here, playing earlier without complaint in a system which did not suit his strengths and always looking a good professional, even when things weren't running for him, or the team. I would love him to sign an extension with us, but it is player who calls most of the shots these days.

We will see, but the Optastats guys need to be keeping a steady check on what is going on elsewhere, just in case!

Do you not give LJ any credit for our resurgence then? All luck and down to the players?

On 'TykesMad' there is a cracker of a rumour, explaining why we've suddenly turned our form around. All I'll say is, a certain bloke came in and things have improved massively. And I don't mean Hammill. It's a belter of a rumour. So mental, that I'm not sharing it on here.

I give him some credit but its obvious for anyone without rose tinted glasses on that it isnt all down to him.

I also think we should all be thinking about where we could have been had he and his 'tactics' not impeded us so much that we sat bottom of league one.

I don't think there's a single person that's said our recent turn of form is all down to him. Neither is poor form

You dont think our dismal form earlier in the season was down to his tactics?

Possibly but don't you think our up turn in form his down to his tactics or do you believe that when we lose its down to Johnson but when we win its down to the players? Genuine Question mate

partially tactics, partially recruitment, partially player confidence, partially injuries. which ever way you look at it though, you can't have it both ways. whatever weighting you put on the manager for bad results, you have to apply the same weighting on good results.

I do give him some credit, its been better the last month or so but we have had the players to be picking up these results all season. The tactics, recruitment and player confidence can all be put down to LJ. I just cant see past the fact that he was so stubborn for so long that he's cost us, IMO, a good shot at being in the top 4 or 5 this season, just as he cost us a fair chance at the play offs last season.

I also think the change in formation was more or less forced upon him by Scowens injury and fan pressure. As you saw against Fleetwood he's still not got the idea of one striker out of his head.

Don't know if it was the same blokes but also overheard that rumour on Saturday. Very amusing.
