I'll be the first to admit I've not been convinced by Johnson & believed our good form was mainly down to throwing money at it by signing Hammill & recruiting White, Fletcher & Isgrove.

He was very lucky to keep his job, there's no doubt about that. Bland football, 8 consecutive defeats and took a team with a top 6 budget into the relegation zone.

However, tonight was a massive test, no Hammill, no White, going to a normally strong, physical Bradford side in ***** conditions with a 17 year old kid at RB, an inexperienced kid at left back & no natural holding midfielder. The sort of game we would've choked in a few months back for sure.

But they passed the test & there's a team spirit there. Players seem to understand there roles & Johnson's making better decisions.

Listening that gritty display has given me belief we can push on towards the play offs. I've always believed we'd got the talent to do it, it just needed team spirit & good managerial decisions & we seem to have both of them now.

I've seen another post claiming 7 points is too much. That's nonsense. Everyone drops points in the football league. We've got better players than most of the teams above us and we've also got a game in hand on several of them.

I guess this is a just a post to say we should all get behind Johnson now. I've been one of his biggest critics but just because he probably deserved the sack at one point doesn't mean we should keep holding it against him.

We've gone & won without Hammill & we've got two realistic shots at getting to Wembley now, time to get behind him.

You're right, 7 points is chuff all at this stage, we're obviously not going to keep this form up forever but with our best team we are definitely becoming one of the best teams in the division, a play-off position shouldn't be out of our reach.

Must say though, I wanted Johnson gone, negative tactics and no plan B - we've had loads of managers who have been the same and they've been sacked, Patrick has decided to stick with him and he seems to be getting a lot of things right lately but I'm not getting too carried away because from the games I've seen since Hammill came back he's been at the heart of the majority of our goals and given the team a lot of confidence, yes we won tonight but I think the fans and Lee will miss Hammill big time over the next few weeks.

I keep reading that we have a top 6 budget. What is this based on?

If it's judged on the attendances or size of our club, I get the feeling that it's a misplaced comment. I mean I could be wrong but I don't think what we've spent this season would take us into the top 6 in terms of expenditure. I mean take Bury for example. Smaller club, smaller fan base, yet spending their way into debt, whilst we continue to live within our means. I don't think we have any way of knowing for sure whether we're a top 6 team in terms of budget.

Agree with the rest of your post though.

The top 6 budget was a direct quote from Ben Mansford as justification for sacking Wilson.

    We must have.

Look at our players, Hammill, White, Isgrove, Hourihane, Winnall, Nyatanga, Mawson, Roberts, Watkins all were highly sought after, we paid good money for or quality free agents for this level.

Sheff Utd, Coventry, Millwall, Wigan, Bury & possibly Bradford. Who else could even sign a couple of them above?
