No fluency, bossed in terms of possession, but absolute effort/graft in spades. Solid, a unit, each player to a man went into the trenches with only three points on their mind. And came out of a war with all the spoils, and despite our lack of possession and not quite being at our best with the ball, we thoroughly deserved that victory and it was celebrated by supporters, players and management alike, as though it meant the ******* world. I'll expand on the game, and Rochdale in tomorrow's episode of Not a Podcast. But just a few quick points while I'm here........ George Williams is some player, man of the match for me. But equally as impressive (again) was James Bree. 18 year old? Wow. Plays like a seasoned pro. The referee had Bradford in an acca. Rory McArdle's a great centre half, saved his side from shipping three goals, rather than one. Ashley Fletcher didn't look anything like the player he did on Saturday. I never once thought about Adam Hammill. Even though we weren't at our best going forward, I forgot about him. Oh, and despite not being at our best, we still had all the clear chances. With Hammill (now I've remembered him) we'd have beaten them by two or three. He'll be a big miss, but I think we'll cope if it's just three or four games. Seven points off the playoffs? Mental. Absolutely mental. But I've always said we can still make em. And finally..... did I mention just how good George Williams was? You Reds.
Good review. Fletcher did struggle as the game went on Given them chances in an u21 games he'd have probably come out with a goal but in proper football youve got to be stronger and more ruthless in that 18 yarder. Look no further than Sam Winnall to see how it's done. The boys learning though and that game will have taught him a lot so we can take the positives. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
An accumulator. Betting. He wanted Bradford to win. He gave them so many unwarranted free-kicks. He was a lovely person.
Cheers..you can tell I'm not a betting man...next time the Grand National is run......this lads having an acca!!!
I'll take your advice...and follow my habit of a lifetime..no betting....no accas..no robins and no yankees..I've heard of them!!
im not a betting man either but i bet that Whitey is still sporting the Mark Lamarr hairdoo as for it being the 'favourite game' of the season and all, well thats what makes it so interesting on here to read such comments.
Great report Whitey. Sometimes there is great beauty in grinding out a result in a situation of adversity (bad weather, injuries, poor referee, etc). Well done to Lee and the lads. It sounds like they really grafted for that result. As an aside, I listened to the second half on Pulse (?) Radio. Outrageously biased commentary, and they were well pissed off! Nearly as much fun as listening to Keith Edwards lamenting the latest limp performance from the Blunts!
I was sat right behind Whitey and that bloody post! £25 for that view is daylight robbery. Anyway we won, we worked hard and fought for everything. I've never seen a player do so much shirt pulling than Proctor, I'm sure he wanted to swap shirts with Kevin Long!
Sorry to be a pedant, particularly as everything is looking so much brighter but i do find your usage of the words 'war' and 'trenches' wonderfully absurd. This was a team of footballers safely kicking a ball about who did not have to face bullets or bombs.
I was sat n the warm eating and drinking in what passes for Bradford's posh seats. To be fair I would have rather been outside. Definitely the best game of the season so far.
