    So if I was speeding southbound for 4 miles and flashed twice will i get 6 points or 3 ?

    I thought there were just bright lights that look like flashes as you go past them? Husband was being super careful the other day and going 49mph on the deserted motorway in the left hand lane as we didn't know if they were set to 50 or not - but every single one had the bright flash. I knew they were coming so I closed my eyes (in the passenger seat) briefly as we passed them. We travel that way quite often and always get the bright light on each one - even the ones that don't have cameras. Are you sure it wasn't just that?

    you can normally see which gantrys have cameras by looking at the opposite lanes gantry. if theres none on there your gantry doesnt have them either.

    if the speed limit is displayed obviously thats the limit and the camera will flash, if the national speed limit sign is displayed then its 70, no lights or speed displayed... go hell for leather!! :)

    If it didn't take 10 years to do up a 1 mile stretch of motorway and they didn't put up 50 average speed cameras everywhere there wouldn't be any need to speed because half hour journeys wouldn't normally take an hour and a half.

    The road system is a joke, particularly around Manchester.

    These are the type of camera I think. Two things mounted on the left about halfway up - radar and camera. They cover all of the lanes in one go rather than needing a camera on the overhead gantry for each lane.

    I was in the force and it was generally accepted that 10% + 2mph was the limit!!
