Is there some contractual agreement with the blunts and fowls that obliges radio dee dar to always put them on the FM commentary.
It's OK if you can get a constant signal. What really bothers me the most is the the FM commentary is still seen as the 'premium' commentary and is almost exclusively given to the ugly sisters.
If their is a financial arrangement in place for the BBC to provide Sheffield united player content like their supposedly is for Barnsley player content then would the money exchanged be identical for both clubs? I doubt it. If it is the case that different amounts of money are being exchanged then surely it would be illegal as essentially the BBC are constantly advertising the dee dars (private companies) due to a financial agreement.
I am out of range of DAB and MW up here in Tingley town. What annoys me is that they can't put the commentary on the Internet. The reason being it is global and they are not allowed it out of our shores. However the BBC I player seems to be under the same restriction but blocks it in other countries so why don't they do the same with radio?.
It isn't because it is global, its because the online rights are sold separately and your licence fee pays for the BBC to provide content to private companies who you have topay a second time to receive the BBC service from.
DAB is a pain in the arris in the car. When you approach the edge of range of an FM signal you can still here it but it gets a bit crackly the further you go. I can still hear Heart FM heading south until I am approaching Peterborough. With a DAB signal, if the signal is not perfect it cuts altogether. Driving around on the edge of a DAB signal range it becomes impossible to use. Anyone else find that?
Agree, but that is the difference between a digital & analogue system. DAB coverage is pretty good in all populated areas, but Wharfedale & most of Northumberland it is patchy, but still better than mobile phone / 4G signal
