Slight moans about Player commentary

Wasn't having a go Matt.

I always enjoyed your commentary. And can sympathise that you did a lot of hard work which you've seemingly received little appreciation for.

My personal preference is that I like listening with a little less bias.

Sugar coat was the wrong phrase to use, but was the best I can think of. Naturally your commentaries were more biassed towards us, and that isn't a criticism, it's an observation. I personally like having a neutral view when I can't get to the games as I feel that is the most real. I certainly wouldn't be against you returning to the commentary position.

There was no need for the personal insult though.

But - our comms just told it as it was - no more no less, with added passion and enthusiasm of course because the results mattered to us. They don't matter as much to me now though since the club I've supported since 1978 cynically knocked the stuffing out of me.

It's 2016. Why can't there be an option to select commentary stream A or B?

 

The treatment of our commentary team was shabby to say the least. However, I did find Matt's constant mispronunciation of the word "dissent" to be quite irritating. Maybe Pat felt the same?

 

I didn't subscribe after the BFC 2 got the push. I miss listening to the games and have to make do with BBC sport updates.

 

When i lived in Portugal matt and adam were a breath of fresh air...listening over the net to their commentary and the banter that took place via text made me feel as if i were attending the game be that home or away.
They brought the whole package, that the match day experience creates something which we all take part in when attending.
All this via the radio with their un biased approach
I for one, even though iam now back living in the Uk , miss their tell it as they see it approach.
The journey of, emotion, jubilation and despair and the anticipation of it all, that matt created via his commentries was a work of art in its self and in my opinion should have been encourage.
Barnsley football club lost a very good volunteer servant and a true asset the day they took the pennies off the deadmans eyes and allowed radio dee dar to get in bed with them.....

When i tune in i want to feel that im there in person, that the person doing the commentary is painting a picture of the days events a free spirit working within boundaries....not following guide lines that stink of a outdated institutional blandness, with little room to manoeuvre that those same boundaries becoming a prison.
With respect to Adam Oxley his BBC training and ethos doesnt allow him the space to detract from the above hence todays player has in my opinion become all that and more.
Its stale, it lacks pride passion and the freedom it once delivered .....shame on who ever chose to pull the plug.

Why ever we the fans didnt kick up a bigger fuss when they got rid of the boys i will never know...

I'd assume so. Would cost them £ to dial into a 2nd ISDN line though so they wouldn't consider it.
