Sad fact is if he have a striker who scores goals he's going to get looked at - from Championship clubs in particular. Unavoidable really. We bought him for £250k, with it said, but not confirmed, that it would rise to £500k, depending on extras that might or might not have been triggered or exist. If that's right then £1.5m + extras and a sell on fee would be a good return in my opinion. £2m+ would be a very good return.

Question for me though is do we have a replacement lined up if we do sell him? Let's face it, good strikers (especially for BFC!) are hard to find!

If the right bid comes in we would sell I have no doubt. I wouldn't be too bothered if we sold for the right amount we are barnsley that's what we do that was always the transfer policy the club set. All I ask is get the right deal. Now is Pats time to shine we have the best league one goalscorer on our books with a 18 month contract we could get 300k next Jan we should hold out for just as much as posh got for Connor Washington. No good taking a million losing out on any chance of promotion, the jpt trip and disheartened fans who are sick of the club getting loved every transfer window. I don't want sam to go but if he has to we have to get the right deal and not 500k up front and the rest never.. come on bfc stay strong

timing's all wrong though mate. makes no sense. i backed the stones deal cos it was a pragmatic one. we were destined for relegation, it was a PL move, the lad wanted to leave and there was money on the table.

this is totally different for me. we're on fire, seriously knocking on the top 6, potential wembley visit, he could finish top scorer and will be worth more at the end of the season than he is now. to boot, we'd have no chance of replacing his goals. letting him go now just makes no sense to me whatsoever. it would be a terrible decision imo

Look at it this way though. He's a good striker and scores goals - we all know that. However, and I am not saying this to provoke anyone, maybe the fact that his hot streak coincides with the transfer window is just Sam putting himself in the shop window.

I don't think he is; I hope he isn't thinking like that. But, if he is, we will have a disillusioned player on Tuesday if his "dream move" is denied.

Sooner or later he will go. He won't be another Bobby Hassell, staying at Oakwell for the rest of his career. When he does go it has to be right for the club with the appropriate fee coming in. It would be awful if he does go now though with what is building at Oakwell at the moment.

It wouldn't be the end of the world though. We could just pinch some lower league team's star striker (like we did to Darlington with David Currie), provided we have time to do so of course.

On the other hand we have two hot shots in the reserves. Why not one of them stepping up a place in the pecking order?

I know what you mean without his goals our season is more or less over and the potential money of the jpt Wembley trip and even promotion via the play offs is worth more than the sums been offered. And looking at the table we are 5 points off with most of the above to play at least once it's in our hands would be nice to see the club go for it.

I think the time to really worry is if there is no interest whatsoever in any of our players.

I put £1.5m (rising to £2m and a sell on fee) in your hand for Winnall tomorrow morning. Winnall wants to go.

What do you do, bearing in mind we aren't at Wembley or in the play-offs. Dont speak as a fan (that's easy!) pretend you have the executive decision :)

As an executive I absolutely wouldn't do it. Probably more so than if I was a fan.
