    .............their objective is to BUILD.

Promotion is simply a product of building.

It doesn't matter which player or manager leaves - as long as the club benefits from that.

At the correct market price, yes. Selling players way below market value has been the norm at BFC for years.

Byram at Leeds has been sold for a reported £3.7 MILLION

As a Barnsley fan.......how much do you think Pat Cryne would ask for that player if he was at Barnsley?

    I'll start............£400K ???

And that's one of the main reasons Leeds and the Sheffield clubs are where they are............and Barnsley is where they are

Alternatively...........how much would Sheffield United, who are in the same league as us, get for Sam Winnall if he was scoring regularly in their team.

    £5 MILLION ??? at least

We (Barnsley) will be lucky to get £1 million

Well we got 500k up front with add ons for Mason Holgate who hadn't even had a full season in league one. Compared to byram who was the longest serving leeds player and was a regular in the championship scince 18 with leeds. You like to knock cryne alot who put the 300k in to buy him and hourhine our most valuable players. Who was it who implemented the transfer policy I don't mind sam going just hope we make a good profit

You think 500k for Holgate is good value? Fair enough but I don't, We were mugged and that's one of the reasons why we never disclose fees. Look at how Peterborough handle things. That's the way to deal with it in my opinion. Why sell Holgate if all we get is 500k? It's peanuts in this day and age. Nudger is right, if he had been at the blades, they would have got much much more.

I understand the need to sell players, but there is absolutely no justification for selling Sam at under 2m, none whatsoever.

He said we would of got 400K for byram which I compared that to holgate a far less experienced player who we got more for. 500k which could rise to 2million with add ons wasn't great but Mason hadn't even had one full pro season under his belt and more to the point didn't want to be here.

I think you have it wrong. Promotion is the objective. The idea is to build to achieve the overall objective. Otherwise why build. Maybe you chose the wrong word in 'objective'

Selling players, as Peterborough do, is part of the business model. It's selling the players got the right price we struggle with.
